Hi there, If you're a US citizen and you enjoy engaging in placebo petitions, I would appreciate it if you signed mine relating to Instant Run-Off Voting. Pretty much, I'd like to see the problem of "throwing your vote away" as it relates to voting third party fixed. I doubt that just this petition will get it changed, but if it becomes famous enough, it might get actual important people talking about it. Currently the petition has 105 signatures. Once it gets 150 it will be searchable on the website, and at 5000 (in under a month) it will be forwarded to a presidential advisor and publicly discussed.

I love how you made a petition to a President whose re-election would be impossible if such a system was setup. He would never adopt this, and that's without my usual conspiracy that he's actively working against the people in essentially every category. But screw it, signed.

IMO publishing polls on people's preferences (iow. "who will you vote for?") should be banned prior to presidential elections. Way too many times too many presidential candidates have lost significant amounts of votes in Finland due to this. (I have heard too many times "I would vote for candidate X, but since according to the polls he will not win anyways, I will vote for candidate Y instead".) Of course another issue is that banning such polls goes blatantly against the constitutional freedom of speech, which could be a problem.

I will only vote if the governor for New Jersey finally decides to run. :P

Even if the Prez were to go for this, Congress wouldn't, and they're who you need to petition. This is a legislative issue, not an executive one. Fortunately your Senators are easier to contact than the President is -- just send them a physical mailing (AIUI email is broadly ignored since it doesn't represent any notable effort).

Signed, though I'm not sure my grandparents could ever sign one of these given the level of difficulty I experienced creating an account and voting :\ Not to derail/steal your thread, but here is another great petition, which aims to end corporate citizenship: http://movetoamend.org/node/2325

My Senators are Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul.
