First link obviously says "This movie requires FCEU 0.98.12". But yeah, redoing TAS for newer emu is not a bad idea.

Actually, in the case of this game, it would be a bad idea. Battletoads is all borked in FCEU.13 or later (They've all sucked!!!)
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

Just a little glitch for Terra Tubes Link to video

Link to video This glitch heavily improves Level 3. But I got it with simple trial & error method. I can't debug the code, so I can't optimize this glitch, though I'm sure it can occure much earlier. Here is the movie for FCEUX 2.1.4a http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/949223628/Battletoads-WARP-GLITCH.fm2 Currently I'm making a warpful version of 2 player run because I hope that I can save more time with 2 players than 1 player warpful run does. And the strategies are very improvable because I can observe my own input, shift it in both directions, control each player separately AND I know the engine.
I ask people who can debug the code to help me optimize this glitch & so become a co-author of my TAS.

But can it be done with a single player in some form... that is the question. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Nope, the screen will scroll right normally and the left dead end for jets can't be moved left to let you jump in the whole. It is tied to the screen, not to the level background. http://tasvideos.org/GameResources/NES/Battletoads.html#ChangingTheLayoutOfLevel3

The next WIP so far Link to video http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1793619359/Battletoads-2p-Warp-WIP1.fm2 I tried to cut the path with the new glitch in level 4 differently, but this seems the only way. Just a test run though.

Awesome glitches! I never knew this game is that buggy. Recently, I was thinking about the 2nd player bug in Clinger Winger. Maybe it's not even a bug, but a feature? Think about it: if one player dies, you have to restart the whole level. So playing it with two players makes it even more difficult as it already is. Probably the game designers let player 2 die on purpose to make it less difficult? Has anyone tried to hack the game and fix this "bug"? it would be interesting to see if this level becomes more difficult if playing with 2 people.

No, it's a legitimate bug. They fixed it in the PAL version.

The reason of this "feature" is that the game testers never reached level 11 in 2P mode. Rare didn't use special codes to switch the levels for resting (Konami did).

And wouldn't it be faster to create Warp object instead of Finish object (jumping to level 5 instead of simply finishing level 3 and having to play almost entire level 4)? -_-

Would it be possible? No one seems to have a will to debug this game as FinalFighter did - till death!

Slight correction, no one is ABLE to debug this game except for FinalFighter ;)

He never debuged Battletoads, so his potential ability to debug a game isn't useful here. I know someone who can, but he has no interest in it lol. Yet.

I think you should TAS the PAL version of the game, so there is no glitch on lvl 11.

It has different code & the glitch may not work. Also I don't like it. Death in 11 takes ~40 seconds. I'm faster than 1P Warps in 1.5+ minutes. I may be still faster than the fastest published tas.

Don't like the speed. And don't want to even test it.

Why noone, there were some very experienced romhackers here, like Acmlm or Xkeeper, although I haven't seen them for a while. Crap, I've just noticed that Xkeeper is... banned?! WTF? His posts history suggests there was no reason! Man, TASvideos really changed since Bisqwit's times.
