Such small updates :) The current non-emulator record is 1:41:26 by Alex McIver.... and he didn't use save and quit Im wondering if this will make it under an hour do you think? Judging by how good he did the run, though, that seems like an impossible goal

Didn't someone make it in 90 minutes or less?

Nope, 90 minutes or less is my goal. Anyway, another update, Moldorm is dead. 21:18

So you are at the end of Tower of Hera at 21:18? Yikes...I know the Master Sword time is around like 26 mins for the speed runs...so we'll see how fast it is then for sure (I don't remember the end of Tower part). Still, that's awesome. I don't think you're going to get under 1 hr, though, like some are predicting.

Hmm... I can do that before I stop today. 22:15

Wow, if TSA is right, you are almost 4 minutes faster than all the speed runs ... Btw. the Tower Of Hera is the best dungeon so far. (While the lanmolas certainly are the best bosses so far.) I always hated this tower and you made it look so perfect. I especially liked how you "played" with the floating tiles. I found it also absolutely astonishing how you floated over the pits. After beating moldorm it reminded me to "moon-walking" ... And how you used the boomerang and the mirror in perfect combination. Absolutely great! Keep up the good work! cu Fabian

I've been away for a while... I just had to say what everybody else did, those sandworms got royally stomped on. I have to ask one thing about the old part which I know you won't go back and redo... at 55580, you walk to the right to pick up a pot and get a key. After this you run the same path to the left. Shouldn't either walking or running be faster both times? For the tower and new parts: 63700: after walking the first ladder, can you dash right and then up? The distances seem long enough for it to pay off. 64440: after the second ladder, how about walking a tile to the right, and then dashing down and then right? One less dash-startup. 65560: After warping and jumping down the ledge, how about walking up a bit and then dash all the way to the right until you reach the stairs? Tower boss: Does everything give the same damage to this boss? Thinking mostly of charged sword vs regular sword. I am guessing this is so, I am only making sure. Later.

Are you timing from the moment you select the file? If so then I was at 24:40 at the moment I picked up the Tower of Hera pendant. Even with save and quits, 3 and a half minutes of improvements is amazing. I'm going to guess this'll be around 85 minutes once you're finished. Also, since you're right up to it, you don't have to stand so close to pick up the master sword. You can be hardly standing on the steps at all and still collect it. Are you sure your route to and through the forest is the fastest? It seems to have more pegasus dashes than necessary.

I'm pretty sure the times Omni gives are from power on (including the time it takes to get through the title screen and name and create a character). I agree it seems like the routes and the Moldorm battle can be optimized more.

Actually, because I have to wait for the key to be grabbable, and the little time I wait is put into charging the run, they are exactly the same amount of frames. I ran because it looks faster and it's more difficult to do.

It's slower. ^^;

I didn't think of this. Thanks.

Nor This. Double thanks.

Yeah, only the sword does damage and it doesn't matter if you're charged or not. Some other places I know I can improve are after the first mirror I move up and to the left instead of straight left, and then dash. I can use a mini-Moldorm to cancel my pot pickup animation and knock me forward. And I might be able to do the room with the first key a little quicker (maybe a frame). And I have to double check my menu navigation. I'll see if I can't hex the floating tile room back because I don't feel like doing that again, though I'll try to fix the frame I lost there. >.>

That was the first possible frame. And I'll double check my dashes, but I'm pretty sure that it's optimal. Then again *points to horrible Death Mountain dashing, sweatdrop*

Well, the Moldorm battle is just about optimal, unless I can find a way to spawn him closer to where I jump down, (I didn't put too much effort into this because I knew I'd be doing it again). But other than that I hit him the first frame he was vulnerable. But I know the routes need more work. ^^;

You can SEE when link wears the gloves! His hands change color!! Ive beaten this game like 15 times (I know that's a small amount by this boards standards) and have never noticed that before! Wow! (-: I'm actually not a fan of the levitation you used to get the bomb since I thought the bomb glitch was cooler... plus i am wondering if the consistant use of levitation could destroy some of the later dungeons... it's your movie though so it's your call which glitches you include (also i think you said earlier that you were going to use levitation).

The bomb just takes too long to explode. And if you're worried about Turtle rock, it's only faster to levitation glitch in one or two spots. I'll be using the cane/hookshot on most pits. I never noticed the glove thing. Very subtle, speaks to the attention to detail. And I have *never* beat this game. =D

><@!@#!@#!@!!@! You can jump down a wall immediately by pressing A. I didn't know this. Everything I lived for is a lie.

I didn't know that either. I always just pressed forward until he jumped. I noticed you always dropped down immediately when running but thought it had more to do with the running than with holding the button. Anyway, you already knew you had mistakes before this and decided to let them be, do that with this one too. You'll need to make a new version when this is done anyway.

Anyway when you get done with the Light World you could make an .avi file so I can watch it? I don't use emulators so I can't watch anything you've done so far...but I'd like to see what is going on in-game and perhaps I can ask about some things.

@Truncated - You don't need to hold the A button once Link starts running.

Heh, another thing I never noticed. I always run by holding the button. TSA, why not simply get the emulator? I think your help during the making of this movie would be very beneficial and appreciated. But if you only give input after something is done it means a lot of extra work for the one making the movie.

Wow first the glove thing and now this. I accepted that I didnt know about alot of the glitches but it's amazing how this game keeps surprising me after more than a decade.

On further research it seems that you also land further away if you press A. So yeah, I'll definately have to redo a large swath of stuff starting from the bush over the hole, (I didn't throw it, wasting 2 frames). But I'll hold off on redoing all that until I can get through the game once. As such I'm renaming the file LoZLttP-Omni-Test.smv and I'm not submitting it when I'm finished. I'm also not leaning toward redoing Dungeon 3 (I have to, for arrows). I'm not going to get sloppy, but I'll save the fixing for next version.

That seems like a smart idea, as it wouldn't make sense to end up redoing it and then find another mistake that you would have caught if you have already went through the game once. It will also allow more feedback to where you can improve in the World of Ruin. Plus I personally want to see a finished run even if there are minor mistakes. Edit: Sorry.. *cough* the dark world.. I wasn't really thinking =P

You can jump down a wall immediately by pressing A.
Didn't you notice that you weren't jumping as fast or as far as the existing speed runs? (Or is it possible the speed runners didn't use this technique either? Seems unlikely.)
