Recording had major bugs that are fixed in the incoming new release, lua got some fixes as well, but actually the whole software was overhaul and fixed. (we are speaking of hundreds of fixes here, easly) Sadly as i write this its not _totally_ ready, but if anything realy i would recommand to wait for it, your attempting a movie with 4cd and over 5 hours long, personnally i would not trust pcsx to do such a project. (its well know the cd changer code is fart) I can confirm already that the spu timing have changed, so old pcsx movies wont sync.

Oh wow. This could explain why I'm having many desync issues right now. So I guess I'll have to start again with the new version of pcsx.

If you are lucky enought, maybe youll be able to get back some of the old run by hexing (now movies are in text format also, thats allow easy hex). Dont ask me for a date on release tho, i realy have no idea, theres so many stuffs to fix it feel like theres no end. All i can say is its going to be _soon_ (less than a month).

Look into some of the earlier time savers I posted earlier. I'm pretty sure skipping the ether in the garden and getting some more of the earlier items is faster. Though I'm not sure how long it takes to talk to the guys on the trains for the hi-potion and stuff, but there's other options too. And the luck bonuses seemed like they had potential to give a possible crit hit on some bosses where without them you have zero chance, should be considered as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzdCddo9O4g Cloud usually has a limit break here. I think the fastest strategy would be a critical braver followed by Cait's poison. It seems too improbable to get the critical braver at the moment. This is the fastest i can get. Any other ideas on how to do this faster?

Let's see, in order to get faster than this you need to do 623 damage before poison damage triggers the first time. What sort of damage range is a crit Braver doing at this point (assuming its possible)?

It's possible. It can do 602. Equipping power wrist will bring this total higher. (+10 power) Another interesting strategy might be to use m-tentacles (1000+) and then restore MK's HP using molotovs/elemental lightning attack. Although, I thought this was more fun than practical. Also to note, Tifa can hit highly if death sentenced and in critical health.

Well, if you're using Elemental-Poison with Cait Sith, then I assume you'll want to do less than 600 damage (he did 78 in the video, so you'd want to aim for around 545ish with the Braver). An alternative option is to do regular Braver, critical with Cait Sith, and low health Powersoul attack from Tifa.

Merging the FF7 topics will prevent people from easily finding the videos and information that I wanted to post at the beginning of the thread. Can someone reverse the merger? New Game to Cosmo Canyon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnEjQxwDnNA

Nice job antd. If the new emu version fixes a lot of problems, I hope the developers will help you sync your work with the new version - that's a lot of movie you already have done and it would be a shame to have to redo all that work.

Roughly 9% faster than the current PC SDA run. I'm not sure what the version differences are. Other than load times. and terrible sound. I still have my original copy from 1997 in my closet. Disc 1 is pretty beat up but it still plays! Watching this triggers a lot of childhood memories (mainly the music.) I can't wait for a sub 7 hour run. Keep it up!

thanks any ideas how to improve on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lYRe3T_i2E (regular speed run strategy) i don't have: cross slash right arm i have managed to defeat red dragon in 45 seconds using these attacks: tifa counter attack, tifa DB, cloud attack, aeris grenade but it isn't impressive to almost match the time of the above video one strategy that i will try next is added-effect_time to inflict slow this may save time (animation of red dragon's second attack) just found out red dragon is not immune to poison.... damn wikies!!!!

Some useful information that needs a consolidated post containing it: -attacks that can have criticals or luck status enter the equation -how much luck each character is over/under zero probability threshold -available luck bonuses earlier in run -other special hard codings such as 7777 fever

how do you feel about 'glitches' that mess with the in-game timer?

I think it would kind of defeat the purpose of any in-game timer run. If you need to do it for a different reason, though, then I don't see a problem.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVlx144XdIc Pause glitch This is what it will look like if used. It can be used to slow down in-game clock, ATB, RNG, Status ailments... Animation continues at normal speed The battle ends 4 frames earlier (we think due to the pause messing with the loading of the victory sequence, or something) Common applications may involve slowing down enemy ATB and manipulating the RNG

Are you asking if the speed vs entertainment tradeoff is worth it?
