I typically use VBA re-recording to play games because the emulation appears to be smoother. But there's one thing that's bugging me: I can't seem to assign hotkeys like on the official version. This is because I typically use the keys OP[] for BALR respectively. The problem is that the bracket keys activate the frame search, which interferes with the gameplay. I can avoid this in the official emulator, but it also forces Windows 7 into Basic displays and makes the audio very garbled. So is there any way to assign hotkeys on VBA re-recording, perhaps by manually editing the configuration file? It's the only emulator that plays roms smoothly on Windows 7. (Alternatively, does anyone why the hell the official emulator activates Basic display, but not the re-recording version?)

Oh, this must have been one of the things moved around recently, because I remember this being on the Tools menu, but now I find it on Options->Input->Customize All Commands, or Options->Input->Customize Common Hotkeys if you want a smaller set. Just select the command from the list on the left, select the key from the list on the right, and click Remove.
put yourself in my rocketpack if that poochie is one outrageous dude
