TAS Ristar "Bonus Stages" by mmarks

I have improved the movie previous of GGG to 28 frames. They were small improvements, but the longest was 5-1, good not so long. Maybe I expect more improvements.

Game Objectives

 • Emulator used: Gens 11b
 • Aims for fastest possible time.
 • Plays at the hardest difficulty
 • Genre: Platform

Comments

I tried to improve a movie and thought about this.
I was seeing if any improvement area and I did, now you will see in the table below.

Comparison Table

StagesNew TimeGGG Time
1-26:086:10
3-18:528:55
4-14:714:75
5-16:236:46
6-19:529:62
Suggested Screenshot: Frame: 12654

Possible improvements:

There is little chance of improving, 1-2 already did it. In 3-1 I think you can improve more than one frame. 5-1 and 6-2 improve cost.
Enjoy the run.

Flygon: Added YouTube module.
klmz: Accepted as an improvement to the currently published movie.
Flygon: Encoding, due to no one else having stepped up to make an encode that is authorized to have their encodes published.
mmarks: I changed the module and edit stuff sticks. Also added my module next to Flygon's one.
Flygon: Reverted due to TASVideos policy, sorry mmarks. If you wish to get the policy changed, please appeal to sgrunt.

Voting YES because it's a good improvement to an already good movie. And here is screenshot 12654 as suggested: (6057 bytes)

Not bad. Whipping up a HD encode. I can't say the bonus stage TAS's particularly excite me, but they do have technical merit. Yes vote.

For what it's worth, here is an encode made with Flygon's parameters, tesa and crf=18: http://www.archive.org/download/ristar-tas-bonusstages-mmarks/ristar-tas-bonusstages-mmarks.mkv Even if it won't be used, this was short enough and I did it anyway, not a big waste.

I swear it could be done faster then this. Still 28 frames is an improvement. The war will continue until there is no enemy but peace.

Could it be yet another frame war? Cool.
<klmz> it reminds me of that people used to keep quoting adelikat's IRC statements in the old good days <adelikat> no doubt <adelikat> klmz, they still do

I'm voting yes. It was entertaining and short.
I am a figment of my imagination.

nice to see this get improved again. forgot to comment on this earlier. btw, i really wonder how the sega record could be 17.82 on 4-2? we have still only improved that to 17.79 with TASing, so how could the sega developers have gotten 17.82 without TASing back in 1995 when they made the game? they must have really had some skill, lol, or maybe they knew something about that level that we don't, or perhaps they just put a random time there.

my guess is that they changed the level and didn't realize it, and left there old record.
