This game is such a load of crap! Not only did they overly complicate the controls by making you unable to move or dodge in First person mode, essentially turning Samus into a stationary bullseye, but they turned Samus into a whiny emo girl!
And a Bounty Hunter taking Orders about her weapons from the federation? Hell no! That should never have taken place! It defeats the purpose of already having the weapons at her disposal!
I played the game for about six hours until I finally got bored and said screw it. And I haven't touched it since. That was three days ago.
Why Nintendo would let Team Ninja go and ruin the Metroid Series with this monstrosity is beyond me. I'm going down to Gamestop tomorrow and turning this crappy game in for in-store credit.
So, was anybody else as disappointed as I was with the game?

what were you expecting from people who pick a stupid name like "team ninja"
metroid other emo
"Genuine self-esteem, however, consists not of causeless feelings, but of certain knowledge about yourself.
It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the
kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional
functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success."

Well, after some thinking, I've decided to give the game another chance. But I'm still not overly impressed.
That being said, I haven't touched it yet, and probably won't until about 11pm tonight Eastern time. I'm watching a four part Movie on Syfy right now. xD
Even badasses can have their soft side. What's so wrong with that?
Well, think about it! In this particular case, Samus's badassery is in direct contradiction with her soft side. The whole character seems tacked-on as a result, because what is being done de-facto receives a very, very lousy substantiation that simply doesn't work out this way. You just can't argue with the fact that a pathetically softhearted, submissive person would never be able to singlehandedly deliver violence and destruction in amounts Samus is known for during all her previous games, or even become a bounty hunter — a mercenary for what declares itself as the "good guys", pretty much — in the first place. (Well, at least it was that way before anime invaded mainstream culture.)

Well, this game is still pissing me off. That concentration deal with her health is fucking stupid, because any time you need it, you're in the middle of a fight and you can't use it.
I just tried. The first boss fight won't let you use it because of all of those damn plants shooting shit at you, and those damned wasps are just as annoying.
Team Ninja really dropped the ball with this game. They should stick to making ninja games instead of fucking up good games.

Try being better at the game :/

Forget party hats, Christmas tree hats all the way man.
I do just fine at this game. The fact that it's a bad game has no relevence on my playing.
Even with just one plant shooting stuff at you it's BARELY possible to use the health concentration deal.
But the fact is, HAVE HEALTH ORBS, damnit!
In sector two the enemies make this game more trouble than it's worth.
Those big guys with the armored heads take way too much damage to kill, and in this one area, there's no damn high ground to get away from it, and on top of that, there are Ice Wasps and a nest.
Either way, something is likely to kill you in that room.
Because of which, I can;t bring myself to continue playing this game tonight. Maybe not tomorrow. I stand by what I've already said about the game.
It's a load of crap.
Wow. Was that a shot at me? Seriously?
Well, I can be rather dense sometimes. Just means people can insult me and get away with it. xD
Nah, I just love Xena!! Back when Metroid: Prime came out, lots of people said it was "too dark" and they couldn't see anything, etc. JXQ was being clever and told you a fix for Metroid: Prime's most common complaint, rather than addressing your issues with Metroid: Other M. Got anything else you'd like me to suck the humor out of?
*sigh*
They did not TURN her into an emo. Samus has had no distinct personality until Other M. You can complain about Samus' character, but it is not character assassination, because there was no character to assassinate in the first place.
I hate it when people assume that every AFGNCAAP is a stoic badass just because they don't talk. Gah.
Sorry, that's just kind of a berserk button for me.
I was not disappointed by Other M, at least not where gameplay is concerned. I think the first-person shenanigans is all about where you have your sensor bar placed and how far away you are from the TV. That would render it a hardware problem, and not a problem with the game. Personally, I never had issues with switching between perspectives.
PROS
The third-person controls are great, it's atmospheric, runs like Grease Lightning and the Ridley fight is one of the best (and hardest) boss fights in the series. The story is interesting, even if the actual storyTELLING was a bit melodramatic. The emphasis on one-on-one combat is greatly appreciated; I really liked how enemies, especially the Space Pirates, were individual powerful foes on their own and not just something to distract you on the way to the next powerup. I also really appreciated the upped difficulty level.
CONS
The hitbox for Overcharges (jumping on an enemy's head) can be a bit screwy. The FPS cursor occasionally blended into the foreground, making it hard to see. Samus' voice actress was perfectly average, which is why I think she irked so many fans: she wasn't great, and she didn't have any memorable so-bad-it's-good howlers either. Also, whoever developed the Where's Waldo pixel hunting should be shot in the head and made to bag groceries for old ladies.
Despite its flaws I still really like this game. I can't wait to go for 100% and get the secret ending. And then go through Hard Mode's forced 0% run *gulp*
My current project: Something mysterious (oooooh!)
My username is all lower-case letters. Please get it right :(

The game is actually starting to grow on me at the moment. Just picking up my Wiimote again. Can't exatly remember where I left off last night. O.o
The part on the lift is starting to piss me off. I cabn handle the Zebesians just fine, but that one thing, I dunno.
Can't figure out his pattern, his attacks just come too fast.
