Here I complete Super Mario Bros. without grabbing any coins.
  • In 1-1, I didn't use the warp pipe because I would have to grab the coins to get through it quickly.
  • In 4-2, I used the vine because if I used the alternate pipe glitch, I would have had to grab the coins at the beginning of the level.
  • In 8-1, I have to make the Goombas come walk towards me so that I can jump on them to avoid grabbing the coin just before the three piranha plants.
  • In 8-3, I didn't do the flagpole glitch because that would result in the time being 243 giving me fireworks.
Sorry if I didn't explain things well. This is my first submission.

FractalFusion: Good first submission, some_pickles. However, we have many branches for Super Mario Bros. already, and this run is too similar to a normal TAS, apart from the couple tricks it does, maybe another if going through the wall in 1-1 underground works. If there were many more places where the presence of coins forces a person to be creative, then that would be good.
I'm rejecting the run. Better luck on your next project.

This category sounds interesting at first, but the run is too similar to a normal run... Also, it is suboptimal in some places.

I agree with those who say the goal makes it too similar to a normal run. There aren't enough coins in the way to make it interesting beside the couple times that it makes a significant difference. Oh, and I just noticed that in 4-2, the pipe glitch cannot be done unless you bump forward by going through the wall near where the coins are. Edit: I'm mistaken. It can be done as shown in andrewg's speedrun at SDA.

I'm kind of torn about voting for this. The goal is certainly interesting, and if there were more places where it was different from a normal run, I'd definitely vote Yes. It's also a very good first submission, much better than the average first submission here. Unfortunately, SMB warps coinless isn't set apart enough from SMB warps regular. Like others have said, if there were more interesting spots on a warpless run, then the coinless restriction would be different enough to warrant publication. I'm voting No here. Don't be discouraged by this, it's more the game design's fault than yours.

A better goal than coinless might be 'ascetic' where you're allowed to get no points, or when you're forced to the minimum number of points possible. (One would assume end of level bonuses would be ignored to minimize boring waiting.) To show how many thing give you points, there's a level in a Super Mario World hack that kills you if you get points, demonstrated here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzcKU6L-88s

Sorry, but I think this run is too similar to a regular speed run. Not to say it was bad though, which is why I vote "meh".

Is this a record for the highest amount of "no" votes ever, both in absolute value and relative to the total amount of votes? Sadly, the run itself is not bad, it's just a poor game/goal choice combination...

It at least wins the absolute tally, not counting the non-run #2554: TASVideosGrue's NES Publication Grue in 07:54.12.
