Hello, recently the need for hosting of temporary files grew larger and larger (new builds of emulators, test runs,...) Those free hosts are crappy and not all of us own their own webspace. So I created the following: 1) FTP-Account: Server: nvdata.pilif.ch User: nesvideos Pass: zk2gbx4 2) Accessible from the web at http://nvdata.pilif.ch Plenty of Bandwith is available. Please don't upload large avis (that's what BT is for) or ROMS (or other illegal stuff for that matter). And don't delete what others posted. Have fun! Philip

I smacked together a small script a few weeks ago that can share a similar role. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php It only accepts SMV and FCM at the moment, but it automatically extracts fields from the file to create an information page, and allows a free-form text comment field.

I've been thinking of adding this to one of the FAQ pages somewhere, because this will most likely go to page 2 again in the future, and the forums is not where people would look for this kind of info anyway. Does pilif and DeHackEd object?

The forum is a bad place for information. The internet loves permanent URLs, and creating permanent links to forum discussions is an entirely bad idea. If it's sticky, it should be something forum related. If it's something generally informative, its authoritative place shouldn't be in the forums, but on some static page that has a logical URL (instead of an automatically numbered one). (Yes, I'm also ranting about those multitudes of VBA / SNES9x / FCEU / Gens versions that can only be found by wading through forum discussions.)

This is probably not the place to request it, but from searching "microstorage" by "dehacked" it seems to be the most appropriate thread. Oh Great DeHackEd... is it within your power to enable Microstorage to allow ".mmv" files, that we humble SMS runners without a place of our own might share our pithy "WIP's"? Most appreciative, Alden

I said it to AngerFist and I'll say it to you: File Format Specs required! (Angerfist provided me with source code to the emulator, so just sit tight)

Question for you DeHackEd: Why won't microstorage accept .m64 files that are created from an external savestate? I think I've done similar things with other formats (although I may be mistaken). Is there any specific reason?

I think the embedded save state makes the files size too large.

Close, but no banana. M64 doesn't have embedded savestates. It has EXTERNAL savestates. 2 files hanging around. Microstorage won't take the external savestates -- you'll have to find separate hosting for that file. Which defeats the whole purpose of microstorage doing it all for you. So I don't bother with them. Edit: Someone want to test out the MMV thing? I have nothing to test it with handy. It should almost work. Come to IRC if you do though.

It looks like AngerFist uploaded a movie, so I guess it works now... thank you very much!
