Micro Machines V3 is a video game featuring toy cars, developed by Codemasters and published on the PlayStation in 1997. This movie beats the "Difficult" challenge mode as fast as possible.

I started this TAS long ago, but the fourth track was very long and boring and difficult, so I left it untouched for a while. Well, not anymore. I finished it, hooray.
It only features the "Difficult" challenge mode, which was the most entertaining option, in my opinion. It doesn't make the movie too long and it features a wide variety of tracks at the same time.
It aims for fastest time, but I know there are some mistakes that I noticed too late. Also, I'm sure it could be somewhat faster with more patience and better planning; racing games require you to think very early about your future movements, so there will always be that. And... maybe lag management could be a bit better.

Noxxa: The TAS gameplay does not seem to stand out compared to unassisted play, and it appears that the N64 version has speed options much more suited for a tool-assisted speedrun. Rejecting again.

I went ahead and did a Turbo Level 5 lap: It was 17.53 seconds (down from 19.88 for the standard speed) I also entered the "double speed" button code on Turbo Level 5: Which I was able to get down to 8.99 seconds... this speed is so fast that it's a bit shocking, IMHO. Given that the race completions count in "double speed" mode and that it actually makes the game harder, I think that Turbo Level 5, double speed, is probably the best setting to TAS the game at.

I'd say that because of a choice of games more so than any lack of optimization that I just found this run very boring to watch. Sorry to say I am voting no.

Thanks for this encode. For the future though, try to adjust subtitle timing so that they're actually readable and please note that the URL is not www.tasvideos.org but http://tasvideos.org/ .

With regards to the subtitle timing, a quick lesson. Try to keep the subtitles on when there is actual gameplay on screen (Unless there is a significant enough delay for gameplay to make it look silly if the subtitles went on so late), and try to make them last 500 or so frames (Around 8 seconds, it seems long but it actually isn't), don't be afraid to lengthen or shorten if there is changes in action screens (Such as the 1-1 warp pipes in Super Mario Bros., the overworld will have longer subtitles for the game title and author, the underground will have a much shorter time period however, but still be readable). Seems like a bit of an odd place to give encoder advice, and indeed it's an opinionated bit of advice but it's how I do it and I've seen no one complain. Also, Brushies statement regarding the URL is completely correct.

Now that I've seen it, I must vote no. Although I love playing this game, watching a TAS of it bored me out of my skull. After the first race I just watched the first lap of every race and skipped the rest, as there was no variety in them. It's not really your fault, mz, but the game's. Racing games rarely offer anything special in a TAS and this is no exception to this "rule". This game has different game modes and maybe some exploitalbe and entertaining quirks in them. If you can find a non-traditional way to make a TAS or a racing game (I'm not sure if this game offers it, but it's worth testing, right? :) ) it would be awesome. EDIT: It seems that the N64 version would be better suited for TASing because of higher speed. Weatherton's WIPs were also a bit more entertaining, but that might be just because it was one lap per WIP.

I enjoyed the first lap of every race, but the rest was boring. I think you should try any other competition mode with more variety. Voted meh.

Really boring, especially compared to a lot of the racing games that we already have on the site. On top of that, it seems that a few of the races could have been a lot cleaner/faster/more entertaining. Voting No.

Hmm yeah at least with Mario Kart there are shortcuts that are hard to pull off and even some the devs never intended. And the CPU matches your speed most of the time (unless you use those unforseen shortuts) so it's never just driving around in a circle. This game really didn't have any of that. Have to think about what I vote here... Edit: After further reading the thread I vote no. This run should really have been done with N64 on the fastest speed (I think in this case button codes would be allowed). And if there are really other difficultys after this one, you should have tased those too, to really commplete the game.

You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

THAT I might be interested in seeing. The current run isn't interesting to me in the slightest.
