I have never heard of this game. Can you explain what kind of game it is?

I was thinking about doing a run for this game, but I eventually decided against it. In order to beat the second to last boss (Tunnels), you would need to have one of the two final aircraft. This means that you would need lots of money at your expense. However, in order to make a good timeattack, you would need to buy/use special weapons liberally. This means time spent doing the canyon side mission for money, which equates to a waste of time. So unless you want to do a 1 person/2 character movie, I'm pretty sure this game would force you to backtrack, especially if you wanted 100% kills/no hits (A10 anyone?)

Sorry to say this but, YOU ARE WRONG! I killed him whit the first aircraft whitout being hit! ;) Anyway UN-Squadron is a basic flying game (like Gradius) whit the differense that you get to buy specialweapons (I only use the nesecary ones). It'll be done soon!

how on earth can you get an aircraft without upwards firing to hit that? the only way to do this is by using the Dcrush and using the temp-invulnerability to swoop in and take a few shots. keep in mind ive mainly played this game on console. ive done a runthrough with the ROM and havent been able to fit anything between the flamethrowers and the weak point, so id like to see how you did it

You see, there is a small gap between the blue bot and the wall where you actually can stay a short while ;) I just use that!

Why don't you use the special weapons? It would make the movie more entertaining AND faster.

You see, it's a side scrolling game. Ok, the bosses would go faster but i think it's more impressiv to see somone only using the dropbombs (and the cluster once) If there is a big request I can allways mako one whit many special weapons to.

I think being creative and versatile with the special weapons would be a lot more entertaining and even impressive than just using the regular weapon (and the two others you described). I think the special weapons are what make this game so much fun to play and also to watch. It could also prove to be a challenge to use them as effectively against bosses as possible.

Indeed, you do have a good point there. Well, the verion I'm working on right now is almost finished. When it's posted on the site, watch it and then you can say wheter it's crapy or not. Who knows, maybe I'll be forced to do a special weapon version.

Special weapons would be great. Since youre not upgrading any of your aircrafts, you can buy any/all weapons you want, especially the g crushes. A pacifist run would be lame as opposed to a 100% kill movie, even though some levels wouldn't be able to do 100% kills (sub level, cavern level, final level) without using a different aircraft or special weapons, which are both acceptable. Just try to focus on accuracy, variety, and efficiency. DO NOT SHOOT DOWN STRAY MISSILES if you dont need to. Also, in your movie, I noticed that the first boss could have been faster if you had used your bombs and guns at the same time.

Tnx for the feedback. I also noticed that on the first boss, I'll do my best!

I did submit a movie of UN-Squadron but I cancelled it (I wasn't aware of the Hard-Mode and therefore played normal :/ ) But if you want to see it anyway it can be found here. Don't know if I'll make a new one though, maybe, if there is a request.

A Hard-mode run that uses the special weapons (and other planes) would be awesome to see. If you've got spare time, I'd definitely vote for doing it.

If that's the case, I'll do it as soon as my Little Samson vid's done. :)

Ahh Little Samson as well, awesome! Have you seen Sjoerd's vid of it? It sure has a lot to improve. Don't make the same mistakes as he did, be sure that you always use the mouse when possible, also in bosses.

hey guys. i'm considering tryin a "gamer" run of this game if enough people are interested in seeing it. however seems a lot of auto-side-scrolling games get rejected so i'm wondering if it would be worth my time.

What do you mean by a "gamer" type run? I'm not completely sure if this can be made interesting to the general public even with the hardest difficulty setting and creative use of the special weapons. Having played this one a helluva lot back in the day, I'd die to see a good run of this.

what you have so far is pretty nice. you should definitely finish it! :) how did you get the 2nd player controls to work during record? for some reason when i'm playing the game normally, i can get GAMER to show up but during a record, it wont come up... ??

gamer is the hardest difficulty (harder than HARD) :) To get it to show up, you have to hold A and X on the 2nd controller but for some reason I cant get the 2nd controller to work during a record. But yeah I loved this game way back in the day. I'm surprised no one has made a run of it yet. I figure if Gradius 3 can make it hopefully this game can too.
