well i do not get it at all. i got several requests on youtube that i had not asked for permission to upload movies. swordless link seems a bit upset that i have uploaded his movie to youtube without asking him.
flygon writes me a pm here saying this:
the rules on this site are the following:
i am following ALL rules perfectly but nevertheless many people do not agree. so what is the state of affairs?
the main objective of me uploading all movies to youtube was to have them all in one place at a streaming media site. there are several people with a directors account but no one seemed to be able to upload all movies at all. so i searched for your rules, followed these and now there is a huge chaos...

WebNations: You are currently complying with the site rules. As long as you comply with the site rules then everything is fine.
As a seperate discussion however is if a user has their own channel/group/whatever on a particular site and doesn't want competition for views of their content versus someone else's.
That we can and probably should have a discussion over.
However if it is of no difficulty, and we already have a link elsewhere on YouTube, and the author of the movie in question doesn't want his video on your page, it would be nice (but not required at this time) to comply with his wishes.

Do you really not see why it would bother me that I don't want others uploading my work when I have the means to do so myself? As you know, my channel is also an old Director account, so I can upload my long runs by myself.
I'm sorry, but even if you are technically following rules, it's just rude to refuse to remove something if the author doesn't want it there.
i do understand you swordless link. thats the reason why i did not linked the youtube movie here because i know you will link it by yourself. but the moment you submit you have to follow the rules at all.
maybe you have seen my topic on sda forums. over there they have no global rules for republication so i asked for it at their forums. the permission has to be asked at each player. because of that i have not uploaded the sda runs at all.
i understand that you feel like i misuse your run but as you can see there are no google ads or similar on my channel.
i am not in a snit but i have no time to ask everybody for permission. thats the reason why there are no sda runs.
on the other hand i do not understand why you do not upload the movies to youtube when you got a directors account. you could do so as well. for me it looks like you are bothered to upload all movies but the moment its your own run you do not want it to be done by someone else.
Wow...
I like how this person always hides behind of "adelikat told me to", "Nach told me to", etc etc. But the best part are those lines like "I request that you stop [...]" and "those are safe to [...]"... Maybe power went way too high into someone's head. And not to say those High Definition uploads are one of the most retarded things I've seen in my life.
As for people requesting you to stop uploading their runs, I find it funny that they don't give a shit about the fact that they're illegally using copyrighted ROMs or other people's emulators without ever giving credits or thanks, but they'll quickly start to cry like a raped kid if anyone uses their stuff.
Anyway... WebNations, I hope you keep uploading TASes to your YouTube account, I always watch new movies there.

Some of us are not.
Some of us are also authors of whichever emulator.

You're not the one complaining about his movies being uploaded somewhere "without permission". :D
Hah. I'm sure you asked Nintendo for their permission to make that movie. :D (Or Forgotten's or all the other people working on VBA since then...)

Webnations, I sent the PM because I had not wanted your time to be wasted uploading the 'SD' based encodes.
You are still completely free to upload them to YouTube if you want, but the problem is, your links will simply be replaced by the 'HD' links in the near future assuming the HD encode is done after publication, if the encode is done before publication, it would probably be chosen in preference over your upload for quality sakes.
I am really sorry if I wasn't specific enough, I am bad at phrasing points into words...
I fear the day I take my job interview.
This does mean that runs longer then 10 minutes are still completely free to be YouTubed though, I lack both the computational resources to encode such long movies (Unless I grow another brain for patience) and the fact my account doesn't allow for such long movies.
flygon, it was not my intention to blame you. i took your pm because of the permission chaos. i just wanted to show that i got several different informations about it. so there is absolutely no need for you to apology. on the contrary i have to apologize for posting your pm.
maybe i can make a proposal. swordless link, i will take down your run and reupload in a few weeks like 4-8 weeks and not before. on this way you can be sure that your movie on your account will be the one shared on most sites. later when the run is a bit older and not that new i will reupload it and yours will be on top with way more views when searching for it at youtube. maybe you feel comfortable with my proposal.
on this way most of the attention of this run goes to your channel and i have the possibility to complete the collection of movies from here at youtube.
@mz
in some way you are right when talking about rights. it depends form the country you live in. here in germany i.e. it is absolutely forbidden to use any kind of roms. but we have a phrase in german which sounds like this:
where is no suitor there is no judge.
that means as long as nintendo or sega do not care there are no problems. the problems will occure the moment you earn lots of cash or get very famous with these things.
....i know my english sucks so i am really sorry about that.
The guy's following the rules. If you have an issue with it, upload quality content and tell people about yours instead. If people like your video style better than someone else's, they'll subscribe to you instead.
This has to be the most pathetic pissing contest I've seen yet.
Hey, webnations - can I ask a favor?
You have two posted Shining Force Runs, one of which is incomplete. Can you take down the incomplete one? Also, thanks for posting the new one!

How about this as a compromise?
Instead of taking down Swordless Link's movies, simply change them to private instead of public for x amount of time. This way the "collection" is still intact but Sworldess doesn't have to be upset about the views competition he is worried about. The question is if Swordless Link then would be able to compromise and decide on an appropriate value for x.
So people actually care how many views their movies get? I never knew a few pixels and bits made a difference to some. It reminds me of catching them all.
