I was downloading the torrent for the mp4 version of Link's Awakening yesterday. Half way through it stops and says that it is currently being run by another process. Now I can't delete the mp4 file. I restarted my computer several times, but it's still there. Every time I try to delete it, it says it's deleting but never does. If I run the torrent it starts back up from 62.9% and goes up to 99.9% before the torrent freezes there. What do I do? (mod note: This topic has been renamed as decreed by the powers that be on IRC.)

If you're using Windows, have you tried restarting in Safe Mode and deleting it?

Select the video, wait a few seconds (minutes?), then delete it. And of course have µtorrent or whatever you're using closed while doing that.

You want me to open the video? If I press delete, before it even asks me if I want to delete it, it says it's deleting, but it doesn't ever fully delete it.

Does it stop deleting and give you an error? If so, what's the error? Also, what torrent client are you using?

I'm using BitTorrent 6.3. I get this image when I press delete. It doesn't even ask me if I want to delete it. It just goes to that, and it never stops.

Install Unlocker (functionality like this ought to be built into all OSes): http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ then try to delete the file again, and when Unlocker tells you what process is using the file, kill all those processes using Task Manager and try to delete the file again it may help to open a Command Prompt window and navigate to your Desktop, because there's a good chance you'll end up needing to kill explorer.exe and then you'll only be able to delete the file by using the command prompt: "del /f (filename)" A couple of other tips: Use Shift-Delete to delete right away and skip the Recycle Bin; also, you may want to use µTorrent 2.0, which is more lightweight than the original BitTorrent client and is still made by BitTorrent, Inc.: http://www.utorrent.com/

Thank you so much. The file is now gone.
