I just watched it and all I have to say is nice work so far. At first I thought you took excessive damage in stage 2, but then I actually played the game to see how well done that was. All the "missed" shots used to charge your weapon looked like they served their purpose, but you should mention why you miss shots in your submission text. This will be a definite yes vote from me when you finish.
I have only 2 questions:
-When you fight the sorcerers in stage 2, can you manipulate their positions? Or are their positions fixed?
-Are you hitting the diamonds on the first possible frame in stage 4?
Sorry if these questions seem stupid, but I don't know this game very well.
Those questions are not stupid. Nor are your comments. I gladly appreciate them.
The locations of the second boss is fixed the first time they appear. If I don't kill them they will teleport away to a new location. If you watch my first submission of the game you'll see that they have exact same possitions.
Yes. I hit the diamonds at the exact possible frame avalible. Thats my goal with all bosses. Actually against the diamonds I fire a bit earlier in order to charge the psycho and be able to shot the diamonds again at the very last frame avalible before they take off again. So it's a very precice move. Also. I'm not sure people will notice. But against the diamonds the "missed" shots does not hit the boss it self, but rather a shot that the boss fires. :)
Of course I will add that those "missed" shots are there on purpose in the submission text.
You can check my earlier run at the following link: http://tasvideos.org/queue.cgi?id=414
Now I'm about to carry on to finish my run. Cheers!
Okay, looked trough it now. Some comments:
- Stage 1: Is it possible to shoot the last shot on the stage boss jumping away from him instead of toward him? This way you'd have less walking distance to the end of the screen.
- Stage 2: I've got nothing. Good job.
- Stage 3: at 1:23, could you let loose the shot while jumping forward? Now you're forced to stand still while firing. Same thing at 1:42.
1:30 at a small jump up a ledge you hit the corner. Could you jump quicker or land differently? There are probably more of these which I missed.
1:34 flickering is gay.
1:45 something, you charge up to kill a wall. Could you start to charge up later, skipping one landing-while-charging (= losing speed)?
At 1:50 you charge up for no apparent reason. LWC might apply here too.
- Stage 4: at 2:04 something you start charging up before the boss and land once while charging. Could you start charging later? It looks like once you reach a certain point the screen starts scolling at a fixed rate, there should be time enough to charge then. It looks better the second time you fight it.
Boss: long shot - could you do one more double hit by taking damage afterwards, jumping trough the snake?
- Stage 5: both snake thing bosses: can you release the shot earlier? It looks like it's stuck on max charge for a while, but it might just be that the attack takes some time to perform.
That's it, hope any of it pays off. Good luck with this one.
Well.. I tried diffrent things on him for over an hour. I coulden't go too far to the right because then he could not jump on the wall to the left. Instead he would jump down and turn into a ball and start rolling, which means he's invincible. I know that it sucks walking that long to move out from the screen. But it was the quickest way to do it in. Compared to the old time I beat the boss one second faster, but due to the long walking scene I only gain like 20 frames. :( I didn't found a way around this problem. So I thought I'd be satisfied by it and move on.
Thanks. Took alot of training and testing to figure it out. I was about 5.7 seconds faster here compare to the old version. :)
Well.. I could. But I woulden't gain any time doing so. I release the charge button 3 frames before it's fully charged. The meter will still get fully loaded. If I begin to jump the shooting animation starts over which means I have to wait anyways. It doesn't look styleful though.
Corners are a problem in this game. Some times I have to go high above them to get over them. So I would say no. I have really put effort in this version to get everything as perfect as possible. Because I don't like those halts my self.
Love or hate it. :)
Well.. If I did that I woulden't be able to kill the wall as fast. If you notice I fire the shot just as I land. Then I jump and fire in order to charge again, landing right infront of the flamethrower and fires the killing shot.
LWC? Anyways. I didn't necessarily have to charge the psycho fully. I just did that because it felt good. I do shot in order to jump higher though. It's a glitch I discovered. You can compare if you want by jumping normally and then shoting plus jumping at the same time. This only seems to be true while on elavators though.
Sure. I could start chargin later. But it woulden't affect the time anyways. So I won't bother correcting that.
As much as I would want to do this it's not possible it seems. I've tried that alot actually. It's not possible to jump through the snakes.
If I release earlier I won't hit them. :(
Everything is frame-precice to get a lower time.
Thanks a bunch for the comments. I really appreciate it. If you notice anything more, please tell me.
I'm up to level 7 now btw. Cut down alot of time in level 6 by taking damage. I only wish I could take more damage. A bad thing in level 6 is that I have to wait alot for stuff to happend. Sad but true. Anyways. This level was cut down with 4,65 seconds.
On to level 7 now. :D
Total time shaved off: 19,5 seconds.
Level 7 done. Up to the boss now. He's a bit tricky as I have to manipulate him to go down in order for me to be able to shoot at him.
Level 7 was kind of a pain in the ass. I actually found a place where the crystal ball weapon came in handy where it was slower to take damage. Good huh? =)
So now you get to see one weapon more in this beutiful run. Hehe.
Hmm... Nothing else in this level that I can think of that means anything when it comes to watching, besides another 2.65 seconds shaved. :)
Now 21.8 seconds faster than current version.
I think I won't see a sub 6min run yet though. From where I am right now it took about 40 seconds to kill the last boss. I only have 20 seconds to do that in. And I think it's rather impossible right now. But I will get near.
Finally this is done. I will just add here the final improvements.
I'm a bit unhappy to see that I actually played this last part good in version V1. I was only able to shave 0.71 seconds from the old record. I thought it would be more. I really did put alot of effort in this. Took me over one hour to finish those last seconds of this game. It should be really stylish though. Hope you all like it.
On to submission. Cheers!
