Oddly, unlike the later games, all the bosses here have various lengths of post-damage invincibility. Wily's is next to nothing--I usually beat him normally by using the Fire Storm and jumping up right next to the weak point, getting about 2-4 hits each time. =P

Great run Bisqwit! I guess it can be interesting with the pause trick... Then again, maybe it was all the tricks you did on the way that carried the interesting parts over.

Thanks AdmiralJonB. Here are the six movies of each Rockman boss without the pause trick and without special weapons: https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/rm-b.fmv (Bomb Man) https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/rm-c.fmv (Cut Man) https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/rm-e.fmv (Elec Man) https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/rm-f.fmv (Fire Man) https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/rm-g.fmv (Guts Man) https://files.tasvideos.org/bisqwit/rm-i.fmv (Ice Man) All bosses except Fire Man are lossless battles. I didn't play the main levels very carefully (though I did do some impressive ladder tricks in Elec Man level), but I tried to handle the bosses as fast as possible.

Perhaps someday somebody will travel around England by jumping on one feet only. Not likely, is pointless, but not impossible.

it really is one of the most creative runs out there due to the bugs- you used all the bugs you found in it, I don't think there should be any exceptions in that case. Very well done. my question is, do the small point balls add on time when they're tallied up after you complete a level? I think they do but I can't tell.

I haven't verified, but I believe they do so I avoided them.

Absolutely yes. After grabbing that thing that falls into the room, a small fanfare is played and then the score is tallied. First the bonus for defeating the boss (a quasi-random score determined before play begins) and then a bonus for each little ball collected. I'm sure Boco will tell me what all these balls are called but I don't know what they are.

"Bonus Ball". Wily scattered them for some reason. It's some kind of jewel, but I don't think it actually has a purpose or that its purpose was explained.
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

Hmm...I just noticed that the run has 70/80k for each boss. The lowest I've ever gotten is 50k though...o_O Though I doubt the run is worth redoing for, like, 2-3 seconds worth of time saved on nothing but less bonus points... :/ And yeah, this run is t3H sh1z...it's like a hot, yummy glitch stew. :D

You're right. I will test whether this has effect on the time.

This is not all I have in my mind. I was going to do a new version anyway.

It has. I'm now 31 frames (0.5 seconds) faster after the Guts Man level than in the published movie. The saving in score accounted for 15 or 16 frames (20 for less counting, 4 to get the 50000 value at start).

no constructive criticism here, I just wanted to say this was a great movie. Way to demonstrate the limitations of the game and its 'physics.' Any idea whether this kind of glitch run could work in megaman 2? I'm more familiar with that one.

Yes - it is in fact already being worked on.

"Off Topic" Bisqwit, I have a question about your rockman run. Im sure you already know this but why didnt you chose Cutman after Gutsman? Because I did this and used afterwards cutmans weapon against Elecman and it took like 2-3 seconds before he died (without using the paus glitch). Reason? well wanted to explore if there was any better weapon against Elecman and found Cutmans weapon most effective. Because when I shot the first time he (Elecman) got hit 3 times (I was standing on that rock and fired my first shot, and since the cut-weapon does a circular move it hitted him 3 times). By then his life down by almost 2/3. Shooted the second time and if I remember correctly when I shot the second time he got hit twice this time (because his life was so low that it only required he got hit twice by my second shot). The question is: Since Cutmans weapon have a better effect on Elecman, shouldnt you use the paus glitch on him using Cutmans weapon (i.e changing your route) so you could save som extra seconds instead of using Gutsmans weapon?

The run was made in order to get magnet beam as fast as possible.
I like my "thank you"s in monetary form.

Because the magnet beam (which is obtained from Elecman's level) saves lots of time in Cutman level - I believe it is far more than what using Cutman against Elecman would have saved.

I rest my case ;))) How stupid of not thinking of that before I wrote my last message :) That darn Magnet Beam ! (if it werent for magnet beam u would have saved a few seconds using cutmans beam)

I'm now making a new movie of Rockman. Besides some general optimizations, I have two new major tricks, one of which was contributed by Finalfighter. Because of the other one, I'm now able to play Elecman as the first level of the movie, allowing me to later play the Gutsman level using the magnet beam. The new path is Elec->Ice->Fire->Bomb->Guts->Cut. There's one dilemma though: Killing Elecman using Guts weapon takes about 8 seconds, whereas killing him using the basic weapon takes 31 seconds. This is a major problem which only appears if Elecman level is played before Cut/Guts levels. If using the magnet beam in Gutsman level saves 23 seconds over a non-magnet-beam version of Gutsman level, this plan works. The lift sequence saves about 13 seconds. Even if I'll have to revert to the old path (Guts->Elec->Cut->Ice->Fire->Bomb), I guess I can make up about 30 seconds of improvement compared to the published version. Very nice. :) I LOVED it when you shot to the left right before finishing off Elec. That was really great. I had doubts about this new "wtf factor" style, but it's actually quite nice now that I look at it. The fight with Elec was really amusing to watch.
