Here’s my contribution of 282 frames to NES Dragon’s Lair. I undertook this run simply because it was the shortest movie on the list of movies to obsolete from 2004. I had never played this game before, and I may never play it again.
Phil’s movie was extremely helpful in keeping me on pace. Every single boss fight was as optimal as I could find. This improvement would not have been possible without the work of Phil and the previous authors.

Room 3:1166811926-6
Boss 3:1207512333+0
Room 4:1403914321-24
Total: -282
Room 1: By manipulating away the snakes, I was able to duck under the spike at ~2700
Room 2: The jump into the burst of air was much more precisely executed. (-48) By waiting before the moving platform section (in the dark area) at an appropriate place, I was able to spawn the second platform to synchronize with the first platform (-138)
Room 3: I lost 9 frames at the beginning of room 3 or I would have died. I either need to get hit by less monsters or throw ~22 less projectiles to have more health. The latter isn’t very feasible. At one point in this room I was up 4-6 more frames than I ended with, I lost them at the final platform. It may be possible to preserve the gain.
Room 4: A slightly different strategy was used at the very end of the room.
Helpful Bytes:
0348: X position
034A: Y position
06DF: Lizard King Counter (when on screen)
0025: Moving Objects: (helpful in room 2)
0686: Moving Objects: (helpful in room 2)

mmbossman: Excellent improvement to a horrible game. Accepting to replace yet another 2004 movie.

Wow, let's give Phil a lot of credit for making a movie in 2004 with this little room for improvement. Out of curiosity, what is the C meter? And how do you get the final boss to disappear like that? All in all, nice improvement.

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. It's amazing how such a well polished movie can still look so clunky (entirely the games fault, obviously). I remember trying to work on this about a year ago, and giving up before getting past the first screen due to the sheer suckitude of this game. Congratulations on an impressive movie, Kirkq, and yet another 2004 movie bites the dust!.

It might be interesting to note that while this obsoletes a 2004 movie, it also completely obsoletes FCEU .10.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

While the game itself is annoying, I too want to see a run from 2004 obsoleted, so yes vote.

Before this gets published, I'm just curious: is it possible to get the Lizard King to steal your gold before the third boss? I know that in both this run and Phil's run, there is still two gold left which gets counted at the end.

A very solid improvement. Maybe someone can find a way to speed this up somehow, but it's a no brainer either way. Yes.

C is candle. It is used by pressing B. It lights up the one dark portion in room 2, and if used in the right places it gives me hidden power ups. (The gray boxes that seem to appear out of nowhere.) The final boss is deleted by spawning the lizard king very near him. The lizard king deletes enemies on screen. This probably happened to people on console and confused them very much. It may be possible to force better lizard king spawns in room 1 to delete the rock throwing prisoners that held me up, but I couldn't find any way to do this.

The lizard king does not appear in that room at all.

It's weird to watch one video of this game where the player is not dying once and over again... Voted YES.

Nothing like watching a player destroy a horrible game with tools. Speedrun purists can take a hike; this game should not be played in real time ever.

Your inclusion of the words "in real time" confuses me.

I mean this game should not be played without save states. Heck, this game shouldn't be played for fun, period, as it's like the opposite of fun.
