Kinda hard not to notice since there's been wall to wall coverege of his recent death. Use this thread to post various opinions on his music and life. One thing I've noticed about him in general is that his videos seem to take center stage over his music. My personal favourite music/video combo is Smooth Criminal

He was a good entertainer, but it's nice to know another pedophile is off the street. Now the only thing little boys have to worry about is catholic priests

Allow me to be the first... Creepy guy but a good musician.
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

Let me quote myself from the Romhacking.net forums:

He always be remembered in the gaming world for making the music of Sonic 3 and Moonwalker. He even developed those amazing Moonwalker games and was a huge fan of the early Sonic games.  :'( He was a real genius and an amazing person, judging from what I've read about him. He surely will be missed.
Too bad there are still so many ignorant people that believe everything the American media tell them. I hope we have an arcade Moonwalker TAS someday on this site. :)
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

Whoa, he died? That's... a shame. Two or three weeks ago, I felt strong need to pray for him... I hope he did manage to make that important personal choice in time.

Wait, so that was confirmed? The first thought I had when I heard he was dead was that it's sad he wouldn't be able to confirm or deny anymore...

It's a common myth that it's a myth that he did the music for Sonic 3.  ;) Anyone familiar with the music of him, wouldn't even doubt about Michael Jackson being involved at some point with Sonic 3's soundtrack. But if you want some facts to draw your own conclusions, read this great article by Sega-16: Sega Legends: Michael Jackson & Sonic 3.

You make it sound like you knew him personally. He may or may not have done the things he was accused of, and yes he was talented, but I didn't need the American media to tell me he was nucking futs.

Personally I find it sad when some people adjust their attitude towards certain songs depending on who made the songs. While most people can make a clear difference between the music and the person who made the music (as nicely demonstrated in this thread), there are some people who detest Jackson's music for the sole reason that they detest Jackson himself. I don't care how music was made or by who: I judge music all by itself, without letting unrelated things, such as the personal life of the author, affect it. I think Jackson was talented and many of his songs are really excellent.

Why is it that with child molestation charges the judiciary system (or at least people's notion of it) seems to be reversed? In other words, guilty until proven innocent. And even if proven innocent, still highly suspicious. It seems to be that to most people "he was accused of the crime" = "he is clearly guilty of the crime". (No, I'm not saying he was not guilty. I don't know if he was guilty. What I find sad is people's attitude with this subject. I'm sure that many innocent people's lives have been ruined by false accusations and subsequent prejudice.)

I feel really, really bad about this. It doesn't seem real. I suppose there will be rumors soon that it's all a scam to evade the massive debt he supposedly had.

Rest in peace... He is without a doubt, the most talented, biggest and greatest singer/performance artist ever lived. You will be severely missed.

[Welcome back Feitclub] I wasn't a big fan of his music, due to being too young during his prime, but his hits were pretty entertaining. He had a helluva prime, but it is too bad he had such a fucked up beginning and ending to his life.

I'm a massive fan of his. Always have been, always will be. It's funny, a few days ago a couple of friends and I were watching on youtube all the many people who have tried to imitate him on shows such as American Idol/X Has Talent (even those who were actually pretty good) before comparing it to videos of the man himself. There is , of course, no comparison. Even his performances as a five-year-old knock the socks of anything else. A real loss.

MJ did indeed make some great music; a personal favorite of mine is Another Part of Me.

Wasn't there another version of this song? I swear I remember there being a more 'sing-ish' version where he held out the notes of the lyrics, am I going crazy? O.o

i know. for example, there are rumours that say that he has made several surgical operations. but he said in an interview that he has only had one operation: his nose. there are always crazy rumours about famous people.

It's kind of surreal to me that he's dead. He has been so much a part of popular culture and everything. I never saw it coming that he could actually die. And so young, too, only 50 years old. I'm not really a fan or anything, but some of his songs are really good. He was very talented. On the whole pedo thing, he was not convicted, so that means we have to consider him innocent. Of course he was fucking nuts! But that much money and fame will make a fruitcake out of almost anyone.

To me he was already dead. Killed by the media, his skin bleaching and some sins he might or might not have commited. It's a real pitty though, he was a great man with a lot more potential than what he had revealed to us.

^IIRC the skin bleaching was only undertaken to mask the effects of vitiligo, because if you're naturally dark brown and some nearly-white spots start appearing (vitiligo slowly kills melanocytes), wouldn't it look better to just make the rest of your skin pale, for consistency?

I've also heard about that. Lots of people found it creepy though and I also don't think it was healthy. But again, I'm not informed very well about it. I would have liked to hear more video game music from him. :/
