I remember playing this game as a kid. I was wondering if anyone was interested in doing a run on it. It's not an overly fastpaced game. I'm not sure if there are glitches or not, but i'd like to see a run of it. There is an action shot here... so you know what game i'm talking about: http://www.neshq.com/games/r/robowarrior/

I remember this game as incredible horrible, bad and hard. It could be cool with a run for it because it's hard but I don't really know. It involves some heavy bombing to clear paths and boring dark rooms.

I remember there was a glitch alowing you to bomb your way through solid walls. Those ones you cannot blast away. Don't know if it will help any though. It's kinda slow. I think this game had a pretty good soundtrack though. I'd watch it if it was made.

Yeah I played this as a kid- I don't know how good it would be though, sort of like bomberman without the familiarity, though it's more action than puzzle.

There are secret rooms all over the game which is behind those normally unbombable walls. So I don't think it's a glitch if you are not refering to something else that I'm not aware of.

Oh yeah, Bomberking... I remember I was going to look into the randomness of the item appearances some more, but I never got around to it. I'm pretty sure that proper item collection and usage are the keys to this game.

Yep, Robowarrior (US)/Bomberking (Japan) is a lot like Bomberman...it's also a Hudson title (but was distributed by Jaleco if I recall.) It's a decent game... Does it have the "wraparound bomb" feature that some of the Bomberman games have?

it wouldn't be too bad if you could manipulate alot more missle items (fires a straight path through bombable walls) if you find special pools in some levels , all your aquired items are doubled that could be used to make things more barable. medals seem pretty hard to come by, manipulating those will help get megaton bombs in the shops easier (i think t hey cost 50 each)

I saw the topic title and I thought to myself: "Hey! I remember playing that game as a kid!" Go figure. I would love to see a run of this game! I never got beyond level 2 but I remember there being secrets all over the place. I also remember this game being very random. I think I also remember that it is possible to continuously make foward progress, but never end the level. I think level 1 requires you to find a certain item under the blocks and the level will loop forever until you find it.

Hopefully you can figure out a way to get all the items you want.

I can tell you right now, if the interest is speed, this wouldn't make a good TAS, unless some zipping technique is discovered, or some kind of way to generally increase speed (e.g. the "wobbling technique in Zelda 3"). I figure just getting a lot of speed boots and rocket launchers would be very repetitive, thus boring for the viewer. If the interest is to just beat the game, I know I can do it simply because I have beat it in one sitting before without dying (but, it took 4 fours, and the whole without dying part was due to pure luck--but most of the time, I die at least twice and the time of completion is usually 5 hours.) However, it can be repetitive because you would pretty much have to go into those underground passages to get supplies constantly--especially the "E"-capsules--and even destroy a massive amount of monsters just to refill the number of bombs you have. I think the whole "getting all items you want" would be hard, since I don't think items are hidden in blocks randomly. So, knowing where each of the items were would be crucial if this is the strategy. A way to make this more interesting, though, is to not get candles or lanterns for the periods or underground passages and completely navigate the level in complete darkness, similiar to the Zelda 2 TAS recently added a while back.

I think some items are always in the same place while others are randomly distributed when the area appears.

Yes, you're right about that. It would be interesting to see how this process is done, though. If figured out, it could make the game slightly more interesting, since you could manipulate the items into being super bombs, rocket launchers, speed boots, or magical bee (which can be manipulated to give you a rocket launcher.) That way, less time can be spent in underground passages. If this game is TAS'ed, I would most be interested in how quickly the bosses are beaten--especially Xur without the use of megaton bombs.

Still a great game. But would it be a good run after all? I hope someone proves me wrong.

Super Bump! No idea if anyone took this game up, but I did an unassisted run for SDA: http://speeddemosarchive.com/Robowarrior.html
