It's a good thing the change of music didn't have singing in it. I thought that would've ruined it.

Words cannot express how awesome that freerun was. Are there any flight sim games that we could make look that awesome?

For the 120 TAS, here is a video showing some nice timesavers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aXuSd5w5DA Besides these route being faster than the current methods of getting the stars, they both also don't require the cannon. The other star that required a cannon was also proven to be faster without it and instead using that flying glitch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRzvuiDPZes&feature=channel_page (I probably already brough this one up, but its a reminder for the last thing I'm going to say) Since the cannon is slower for getting these three stars, not opening the cannon would have a great deal of frames.

Shoot To The Island In The Sky - 18"20 Using Johannes' route and SilentSlayers' timesaver, I got a faster TAS than bobmario511's by 8 frames.

...first, meh. Flying, though, yowza. As for those strategies, what about lack of cannon use for 100coin on B-o-B? It seems like it'd be terribly slower, if possible. Nm, same strat as for Wings to the Sky.

I find it quite offending that people are directly telling charles1q2w that he should burn in hell or that his TASes suck. Instead, in spite of what he did earlier, couldn't you just tell him how to improve his work?

Turn off Aero and try recording again. Not a bug with Vista.

I'll copy and pasted what I wrote in the locked topic: 1- Your run if FAR better, but still not optimized. You made some mistakes unacceptable for a TAS, like taking damage in some places not needed, missing some jumps... 2- 16-run star? Why?
My first language is not English, so please excuse myself if I write something wrong. I'll do my best do write as cleary as I can, so cope with me here =) (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ

I can't see how he put any serious effort into this. The level of SM64-TAS is high and if someone wants to make a good TAS should read and watch first. His material doesn't worth uploading here, instead of that he should practice. If he just makes these runs for fun it is OK, that doesn't mean he should force everyone to become a great TASer. P.S. My non-TAS runs are much better than his TAS. Sorry if this sounds arrogant but it is true.

Actually, I'll partially agree with filimonas. Even though I haven't watched the m64, it's pointless posting anything uninteresting on tasvideos (which I can tell this is the case here). We all start from somewhere, but before posting something somewhere, we should all be well aware of the level of that somewhere. (And no, I'm not trying to discourage anyone; if that's what someone got from this message then it's just another misinterpretation)

Mm, there's a stark difference between "This is my first effort at a TAS; what do you think?" and "I'm submitting this TAS to be published on the site." Doing the latter as your very first action on the site is likely to make you some enemies (unless you actually legitimately made a good run, of course).

Exactly why i never posted my first attempt at a SM64 TAS on this site. It would have been the height of arrogance. Mine was a one star run in about 10 minutes.

So he needs our opinion to tell if it's good or not? Seriously...

Practically speaking, your first effort is always going to be flawed. So yes, it's a good idea to get feedback before submitting it. Your options are either "Hey wow, this is really good, you should submit it!" or "Well, I noticed these things that could have been done better." But the former option is vanishingly unlikely. Contrast that to submitting your first movie, where your options are either "Hey wow, this is really good!" or "What the hell, why did you submit this, I noticed these things that could have been done better." For better or for worse, we're more acerbic with feedback on the workbench.
