This is a dramatic battle run of Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha. Dramatic battle is basically first and second player vs a computer controlled opponent.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: FBA RR v0.0.1, tested and syncs fine with v0.0.3
  • Trades speed for entertainment
  • Show glitches
  • Controls two players

Comments

Both players share a life bar and they fight four difficult boss battles. You can easily die in a hit or two if it hits both players at the same time, loosing 4 quarters in the process. To make up for this your given infinite super. The rom sfz2alj is a combination of sfz2aj and sfa2

Stage by stage comments

1st Adon round

So if I was going for speed every round would look like this. Note that super throws can combo in this game. In most street fighter games shadows move during superfreeze, most of the time this is harmless, but Roses shadows are not harmless and can hit during a freeze. Roses super throw is unique in that you can combo out of it with another superthrow. This can cause some strange things to happen if you time it right.

2nd Adon round

Just showing what you can do with inf custom combos. Notice at 0:34 that rose switches to her kick super rather then a custom combo, and that throw damage doesn't scale.

Sagat

1st Just showing some super combo juggling that's possible. 2nd it's possible to dizzy with a super, and a projectial only CC.

Vega (dictator)

1st a round with mostly normal attacks. Note that sim would have killed Vega with the super at the end. When rose activates CC it causes Vega to fly higher.
2nd So rose has a unique alpha counter. Normaly she can combo after it. For some reason the suction from sims combo will keep the opponent standing in mid air. I end my combo so that you can see Vega do a crouching fierce in mid air and to show he will keep on fire after the combo.

Other comments

I think it's improvable but I think Dhalsim and Rose are the ideal characters for this kind of thing.

It was not an errror

I agree with lag comment Its not because many others run can get submited after this one, that it should be rejected, rather talk about that when those are here in workbench, for now theres just 1 Yes vote from me, just extrem pwnage, i think i didnt understand half of the movie, or what was glitchs (beside obvious one with sagat), the fights are fast and you do over 99 hit combo... to me it look god like playing so its easy yes

The way you brutally destroyed enemies was very entertaining. TAS are meant to show games pushed to the limit, and this did it very well; it was quick and fun to watch. I actually laughed at the first round versus Vega (M. Bison). It's a yes vote for me.

I tried to explain it in the comments but I'll give it another try. If you hit an opponent with a level 2 or 3 soul throw then grab them with another super throw after they have been launched. Rose will still throw them. This will cause the opponent to recover from Roses throw as dhalsim is still throwing them. So in the video Sagat/Adon get knocked to the ground and do a wake up move, Dhalsim finishes the throw KOing them. They get KOed without being hit leading to strangeness. Here are some other strange things this can do that didn't make it in to the video ( I posed these in the arcade fourm before ) http://files.filefront.com/13684765 http://files.filefront.com/13693482 As for the glitch in the second Vega round. Doing roses punch alpha counter followed sims inferno super ( probably works with any super that causes the vacuum effect ) causes the opponent to be stuck standing in midair. Normally sims super would knockdown but I push Vega froward so that the last hit whiffs. From this possession Vega will stay on fire until he get knocked down and stay in the air until he hits a neutral state. The screen shot above is of this glitch. Hope that clears it up.

Yes vote. I seem to take a liking to videos where I have no idea what's going on, and the chaotic nature of the combos was almost overwhelming in that respect. Visually very impressive.

realy impressive demo, but it's realy hard to folow everything with the youtube poor quality encode. voting yes because i was realy impressed (99 hit w00t) but if it's published, then it should be categorized as a concept demo.

because it's not a run of the "full" game, just a mode. plus in this mode the gameplay is different than the original mode (2 player again's 1 CPU) and if i read corectly the submission text, you got an infinite super bar... this should stay a concept that show fast paced and interesting combos/glitchs or concept demo that show that arcade emulation is possible.

I never knew a Street Fighter TAS could be so insane and fun to watch. Yes vote. I agree with sticky, don't change the last two rounds. I like how you toyed with Shin Akuma.

Well, it would be a "dramatic mode mode run" It's not really a concept, it's game mode with his own rules.

at some point someone changed the name of the game here http://tasvideos.org/1300M.html to the wrong name. This game is "street fighter zero 2 alpha". "street fighter zero 2" is a different game. any chance this might be fixed?

this game deserves a run like the xmvssf, because beating characters for one arcade run neats the character even if you're playing some other char after losing.
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.
