The latest public version is 9a which is on the first page. For the current dev version (with frame advance), PM me.

Speaking of frame advance, I don't believe the start button registers in frame-by-frame play.

Sometimes I've found it doesn't seem to work, but when I need to use the start button, I don't do frame by frame when I'm pressing the start button.

Hello people, I hope this place is STILL ALIVE. While I usually don't like to see impatient peoplez pressuring a dedicted host to constantly update his site, even if he has nothing new to report, I gotta admit that the silence here is threatening. So I'll tell you something that might interest you because it is related and constructive. I've been doing some searching around for a SEGA Master System/Game Gear emulator that has a movie recorder built in. I came out with only one having the ability. It's eSMS V1.04. You might be interested. It can even encode videos into avi, but I didn't try it. However, my experience with the movie recorder (buttom combination recorder) was not satisfactory. The videos playd for the first time, but the next day they gatuitously screwed up. And it's not that there is a sram, or whatever file to delete, because he didn't make one. So... I'll wait for a quality product. Oh, when the day finally comes when we have a codec to live encode whatever we see on screen and have it compact size as well that'll be a great day. I hope you're still alive. PLEASE just say something.

It's highly probable that Gens 3 will have Sms and Gamegear support. I do plan to hack it and add rerecording, slow down et cetera. eSMS, being GPL, could be interesting to add rerecording and co but I'm not the one who'll do it I have a list next to me of things I have to do with Gens before releasing the next version to public. (Most related to AVI support) Unfortunatly, I didn't received free time for Christmas. My next big block of free time is scheduled for May.

Ok, you guys are still alive. That's cool. (Some have got humour too eventhough it's a childish one.) Ahh, it's too bad you don't have more free time. You deserve it because you use it to do something for us without asking for pay. I'd say we need more people like you, but then again, I know that there is a lot of fellas like you out there working on the internet, in groups or alone. But there is one thing that all of them lack: time. If one day could feel more like two days instead of so short. Only prerequisite is that you like your life and don't hate ya job. Anyway thanks for your efforts.

Hello everyone. Im to lazy to read all the posts but have the suggestion for a "Pause-function" being mentioned on this thread? If not it would be really sweet if the creators could somehow manage to create a pause-function. I belive SprintGod brought up this idea in the Sonic thread about he cannot do another sonic run unless a new available version is out with a pause button/function.

There is a pause button in standard Gens. In Jyzero's version you can map it to any button you like.

Ok that sounds great. Then we all can look forward to SprintGod doing some nice Sonic runs :) Him doing a sonic run is like for me waiting Bisqwit doing a megaman run ^_^ Anyways "Totally Off Topic" could u guys answer this question. I have Gens and want to play Kenseiden. Now as I have understand it correctly, Gens can play .bin and .smd files but NOT for instance; Kenseiden (UE) [T+Por].sms or Kenseiden (UE) [!].sms or Kenseiden.frz (these are the files I only could get) i.e Gens cannot play .sms files, am I correct? If not, if thats the problem, what should/can I do? download a new console?

Um.. .SMS is a 8-bit SEGA Master System ROM and cannot be played in Gens since Gens is a Genesis/Mega drive emulator. However.. there is a some great Emulators for Master System. E.g Meka, Chasm, Kega and eSMS(which is renamed to Emukon nowadays). http://emukon.kontechs.de/ Emukon has movie support. But it does'nt support rerecord.

I hope that Emukon get's re-record support soon. How come there aren't already a thread for SMS to discuss these kinds of things?

guess you could call SMS the ugly cusion of the nintendo that no one talks about and keep locked in the closet. everyone knows its there and that people like it but no one tries to get a good movie feature going for it.

Is this the same as the beta 9c which some of us have been using, or has something been changed? I'm thinking both of if I need to download it again and about the bug report I pm:ed you (which I never got a reply for). In any case the frame counter and frame advance are the greatest addition yet. It helps a load when making movies. Everybody doing Gens movies here should check into it.

ARGH! Still no third port! =/ Good to see frame advance though, maybe SprintGod will be motivated now to make another Sonic run... EDIT: Didn't know frame advance was available in Gens9b as well...

I updated information in the first post. I also have a more advanced version than 9c here : http://www.step.polymtl.ca/~jyzero/gens_movie_test9_net.zip The main feature addition is movie recording with Netplay and a fix with checked menus. I do not recommand this version for movies submitted to this site because it use a different movie file format.

EDIT : Version 9c This version isn't as ready as I would like for public release but I won't be working in it until a long time. Furthermore, the official Gens with movie support is comming soon.
But will it support rerecording? Will current movies be compatible?

I'm not sure allowed to talk about this now since it's in closed beta.
