Has anyone tried to replicate some ISG only tricks by using TAS timed sword attacks?

Spiderwaffle, you're going to have to be way more specific with your question. ISG is used most often to hover in the air, or destroy stuff while supersliding, and I fail to see how 'perfectly timed sword slashes' accomplishes either of those.
Slowking, check SDA, or the zelda speedrunning website they're making.
Synx, it means "Medallions Stones Trials". it's basically Bloobliebla's no major skip run.
OK looked over it.
There is one question I just have to ask. I guess it's probably been answered before and I'm just missing something huge, but why not just get the Bomchus from the bottom of the well after getting Zeldas Song and letter?
It's near to Dodongos cavern so the way to Kakariko shouldn't be a waste and the well should be faster than the child portion of the Spirit Temple (mostly due to not having that chatty Sage blocking the entrance).
Furthermore you could SS/ISS through the desert, which should save a bucketload of time and you don't have to come back to plant the magic bean, as you can do this part as the last thing you do as a child...
The Deathwarp to skip the ZL cutscene, and being able to use chus to skip Talon saves time. But if the death warp could be done with the slingshot bomb, well chus might save enough time.
Nope http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQE-MQo3pbY
ZL cutscene?
Talon Skip is a good point. I didn't think about that. Is there any other way to skip him besides having explosives. Because otherwise youll have to have a hatched Cuco and that would take forever.
Btw. I'm pretty sure that there wont be a new run untill there is reset recording, so death warps could just be substitutet with save warps...
Sure XD
I have 1-2 MM questions for you anyway. It's just that I never see you online. ;)
the death warp is used to skip the Lullaby cutscence.
and yes, it works with the slingshot bomb, but slingshot is actually skipped :/
edit:
here's the Dodongo's Cavern TAS with my Shortcut to skip the whole head part:

should save a good amount of time ;)
Nice one. ^^ You really like your bomb hovering into boss-loading zones, dont you. XD
well if youve got some time come on in ICQ and we'll talk about some of this stuff here. ;)

In MST the slingshot isnt skipped, at least in the current route.
And to stop people from getting the wrong idea abt low%, RBA is not and cannot be used to lower the %. Also anything that is even temporarily put into the inventory by RBA is counted as an item so I don't rlly see why people object to it.

Afaik it is. Since the only place it was needed was to get the chus in the Spirit temple and it was discovered that you can hoover up to the switch.
Also anything that is even temporarily put into the inventory by RBA is counted as an item so I don't rlly see why people object to it.
See I can see the rule to not use RBA, but imo counting deleted items is crap.
It's what's in your menu at the end that counts, not what was there in the meantime. Let's say there was a long and a short trading route that both end in getting the bigoron sword. Would that mean that you would have to use the long route to achieve 100%? No the goal is to have the bigoron sword, as fast as possible.
For MM the 100% definition doesn't include keys, maps, etc. because those things vanish with a time travel. Are you saying that they should be collected anyway because even if they get deleted they count as x%?
So counting items that were there but aren't anymore is imo just stupid.

No, chaos is right. low% is about completing the game with the fewest abilities. If you get some item, use it for the entire game, then get rid of it, you still had the ability at some point. If you get the Hylian Shield for hovering and Power Crouch Stabs, then let a Like Like eat it in Ganon's Castle, should that be equal to a run that manages to not get the Hylian Shield at all?
you're also somewhat wrong about 100%. We could RBA ourselves a surprising number of items, but in a 100% run, we won't. Also, the Gold Skulltula glitch. It's faster to get 100 tokens that way, but what's the point?
Lastly, don't try to compare MM and OoT in this respect. Those items aren't included in 100% not because you can lose them, but because you can't keep them. Even though the game saves after you beat the game, letting you keep the FD mask, those items will be gone. Oh, and the maps are included in 100%, as they don't vanish.
With maps I meant temple maps, but after some reading I guess those don't disappear, too. whoops ^^"
And I think it's absolutely okay to ban RBA or the skulltulla glitch from those runs (or say that items have to be obtained like the game designers intended), but to say that every trade-item counts as a seperate item, I mean come on.
Like I said in this case you would also have to do the (hypothetical) longer trading route to get 100%.
But I think in the end it's futile to discuss. Let's just agree that glitch-methods to get/delete items should be banned from those runs and agree to disagree on how items should be counted. ;)
Initially my stance was similar to yours, Slowking, but apparently the different trading items do different things when RBA'd, so they technically fall under that "give you an ability, but you can get rid of the item" bit that Petrie was talking about.
Memory glitches do weird things to run categories.

although I've said that about a million times already, but people just don't want to her it:
THE LOW% RUN CAN'T BE COMPLETED WITH LESS ITEMS, WHETER YOU COUNT ALL TRADE ITEMS AS ONE ITEM AND DELETING STUFF OF YOU'RE INVENTORY ALSO DOESN'T AFFECT THE NUMBER OF ITEMS!
Here's an idea how to get the chus from the well without Zeldas Lullaby, making it possible to skip the child-portion of the spirit tempel.
I use a moonjump code at the first part, because I suck at hoovering, but a skilled TASer might be able to hoover up there using the floating skull as damage source (I just don't know if you would get high enough, but I sure hope so): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7Lb-dXWuYM&fmt=18
here's what I wrote on youtube:
lolz, I came up with this theory in the irc about a week ago
chaosv1 invested a lot of time in testing this trick, but had no success. he's really close to do it, so this trick could be possible soon
this wouldn't save any time for MST, because hovering with the skull bubble takes a lot longer than just doing the child spirit temple ;)
the reason, why this would be useful is, that it would allow us to sip deku stick for low%, finally ;)
For it not to be faster it would have to take forever. o.O I'm not really familiar with hoovering in OoT, just MM and I believe it's somewhat slower and doesn't bring you as high, but it's not THAT slow.
Just start somewhat down the coridor and use the hover backflips to keep up with the skulls path. If it is to fast stun it with Deku Nuts in between. I know it's much harder than I make it sound, but it should be possible, if you get high enough in general.
With a moonjump the well would take less time than talking to that chatty Sage alone.
Then take into account the rest of the child part and the fact that you could super slide through the desert if you got bombchus from the well and have the magic the first time you go there (you would sill go there as a child, but it would be the last thing you do) the well should come out far ahead.
Btw. in low% time is secondary, isn't it? Wouldn't you be able to just get Zeldas Lullaby with a waking up Talon and then do the vine-clipping in the well? Or don't you get Zeldas Lullaby. But if not what are you going to do to skip the boat in the shadow temple?
PS I wrote you two PMs.
