Well I"m not at home, so I can't gauge how much space my movie collection takes up, but I have about 15 DVDs filled with various television series (ie all the CSI seasons, Family guy, Futurama, etc), plus some other stuff on my couple of external drives, so totalled it's probably around 25 to 30 gigs. My ROM collection takes up about 7.5 gigs (I have the good NES, SNES, Genesis, and N64 collections), and I'm working on getting the good GBA, GBx, and GG, which will bump that up to over 25 (thanks majorly in part to the huge GBA selection).

Well, even if he didn't, it's twice as much.

Oops, used some fuzzy math there :\ You're right, I have closer to 60-70 gigs on DVDs (since they're all mostly full, but not overpacked), plus what's only external drives. Thanks for the correction, guess I should probably take third grade over...

48 gigabytes currently. Then, 9 gigabytes in the cromfs archive containing... helpful files for watching the movie files for various consoles. 13 megabytes in torrent directories (plus numerous backups and the git database). 44 megabytes in source code directories (+git database) -- I don't suppose many have this though. 463 megabytes on the media site (screenshots, article images and WIP/demo movies) EDIT: For comparison, 17 gigabytes where stuff downloaded from SDA is.

Not very big. I don't even put them in a separate directory, actually. I think it's a good idea to try and do more with sites that let you view stuff online like YouTube. One of the things I've been meaning to look into is how easy it might be to automatically send a movie to the Internet Archive. There's no API so there's probably going to be some screen scraping involved, but if it works it could prove super useful since then we could basically let people view all videos inline on the site without having to lift a finger.

Actual M:\Movies dir is over 400 GB, but that's kind of misleading. I have too many movie files to fit on one drive, so they're kinda spread across multiple drives. Not counting what I have on my laptop. I have no idea how much disk space is being used by movie files, other than the number is greater than 500 GB.
Kirby said so, so it must be true. ( >'.')>

TASes: 8.74 GB My emulation directory is 8.75 GB. Plus a 300 GB hard drive filled with a bunch of stuff including movies and TV shows. I don't watch TV anymore (other than occasionally for news, but even that I can watch on the internet). Yeah, I seriously need to get more hard drive space. I think there are like 1.5 TB drives now. Edit: Oh whoa, I guess I already posted in this thread. It's older than I thought.

Is that the uncompressed or the compressed size? If it's the uncompressed size, then how large is that cromfs partition? My tasvideos directory has 38 GB of avis. I have at least 99% of currently published ones there.

H:\ Episodes: 243GB Movies: 85.8GB C:\ Episodes: 18.2GB avidump: 3.11GB S:\ TV: 337GB Movies: 13.1GB Total: 700.21GB H and C are my stuff, where S: is a house repository of various stuff. avidump is the finished avis that I have created for this site. It is extremely rare for me to download AVIs/MKVs from this site since I love the quality that emu, rom and movie file provides.
