thanks petrie
this will also help me to understand the timing if I watch it frame by frame ;)
the mega flip acts like a normal backflip, right, so it looses all its speed again.
that means, that that the best choice for the boss key skips is still a bomb boost in the end
Thanks petrie, I have it working now. To anyone wondering, to make it work, you have to release the analogue stick (or hold it in another direction (this means super sidehopping is also possible in MM)) immediately after backflipping.
Here's a little something I did with it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWa0DEtNEV4
Hehe, nice.
Anyways, we should probably get around to testing how many bombchus this saves. The important places to test are...
-Boss Key skips
-Stone Tower exterior
-Great Fairy warps

great fairy warp maybe one bombchu, but that's all.
inverted stone tower should be possible with 2 explosives now
I have a few nice ideas for the stone tower boss key skip and if my math is right, we'll get it down to 12-13 explosives :D
I have thought about the run some more.
If I counted correctly we have 6 Chus left when we get to woodfall. Would that be enough to do the bosskey skip with the megahover? If so would it be worth the longer cutscene?
Btw. if you could get oob in the bosskey room it should be a really short hover. Granted you could just get the key. But this way you could be able to skip the battle for the key (which will be longer since we don't hace the goron mask), don't have to go back and you don't need the fire arrows...
Also are the fire arrows going to get used against twinmold? If not it might be a good idea to do Stone Tower immediately after getting the hookshot. Then, if we discover that we need more money, we could just shoot stuff with Light Arrows...

We need the Hookshot to skip the miniboss.

Yes they are. And I don't see any advantage to doing Stone Tower immediately after getting the Hookshot.
If we would have the hookshot, we could get OoB with my trick to clip OoB off the mini boss and get into bombchu hovering
from there we would only 5 explosives or something ;)

Well the idea was to not skip him, but get through the wall in his room. But as MrGrunz said one would need the hookshot for that (doesn't it work with the bow?), so it's out of the window...

Well if we wouldn't use the Fire Arrows on Twinmold it wouldn't matter when we did Stone Tower and in that case it would have been a good idea to do it right away to get Light Arrows. Then if we would need extra money we could just shoot something for 50r...
But since we do, that's out of the window, too. :D
Just FYI, it's much slower to just do superflip hovers instead of normal bombchu hovers. The best way to do it is one superflip, then the rest of it with bombchus. Just mentioning this in case it affects the number of bombchus we need to buy.
Big thanks to swordless
he told me, what I was doing wrongly, so I'm finally to do real Mega Flips :)
here's some fun with it:

Sure. It's really simple, actually.
To do it, stand still, and press Z for 3 frames. Then release it (without touching the analogue stick) for 9-15 frames (it seems somewhat random, probably due to lag), then hold the direction you want to face for three frames, and start holding Z again. That should do it.
Works for me. Looks nice.
And it's "superflip", dammit. >_>
Just curious, why do you call it that? The original person who discovered it (BrianMp16 with Nayru's Love; I think? Correct me if wrong) called it a Megaflip, as did Petrie911 sans NL.

A common misconception. Originally, GuanoBowl found the method without Nayru's Love, long before BrianMp16 found the Nayru's Love method, and from what I understand, it was named "superflip" when he found it (probably to fit in with "superslide"). The Nayru's Love method is called "megaflip", but the normal one is called "superflip".
Fierce was the person who originally found the superflip (long before Guanobowl). At the time it was completely overshadowed by his superslide discovery which was included in the same video. I had discovered the superslide method using Nayru's Love a couple of months earlier. Unaware of the significance of it at the time, I then posted this video about an hour after he uploaded his video.

BrianMP discovered the Nayru's Love version, but this was long, long after it was orginally discovered. 409 days to be exact :-D
you mean mega flip off superslide was discovered long time before brian's method, right?
Mega Flip reduces the number of needed explosives for the inverted stone tower trick by 1:
