Its that time of the year again and we need to do awards for the 2008 Movies. For 2008 movie categories, I think we should model the categories after 2007: TAS of the year each console category: NES, SNES, Genesis/32x/SegaCD/Master System, GBx, N64 Special categories These will need some discussion since some may not really apply this year, and there maybe cause for some new categories. Last year we had: Innovative TAS, Speedy TAS, Glitchy TAS, and Funny TAS. I nominate the following movies: NES TAS of the year: 1103M NES Rockman in 15:29 by Deign GBx TAS of the year: 1096M GBA Spider-Man 3 in 15:39 Sega TAS of the year: 1188M Sega CD Sonic the Hedgehog CD in 17:27.64 by Nitsuja SNES TAS of the year: 1139M SNES Super Metroid in 22:01 Cpadolf, hero of the day "Glitched-any%" N64 TAS of the year: 1211M N64 Mischief Makers in 55:04.28 by Comicalflop Innovative TAS: 1188M Sega CD Sonic the Hedgehog CD in 17:27.64 by Nitsuja - since this was a ground breaker for both being a new platform and for being the first CD game to be successfully TASed. No votey buttons yet? I vote for cpadolf as most productive, for making *4* super metroid runs, as well as other runs that aren't just measly sub 10 minute easy cheesey runs.

I like "best boss fights" as a new category.

How does this work? Do I have to vote or can I nominate someone else? Because, this. I'd vote for SilentSlayers and Johannes if I can.

I would have to say it's a tough decision between Comicalflop and Bloobiebla. On the one hand, Bloobiebla has matured more as a TASer, starting from the rupee route to the awesomeness that is the OOT all-dungeons run. On the other hand I think Comicalflop and a much smaller Mischief Makers team deserve it because they took a game with minimal TAS-worthy research and created something beautiful. I flipped a coin and it came up tails for Bloobiebla, but both guys are to be equally congratulated *applauds*

My personal nomination I can't really suggest since he hasn't submitted anything yet. But he dominates in any game he touches, and more importantly as soon as he hit the TAS scene he demonstrated phenomenal TASing skills that pretty much surpass everyone's. Here's my nod to TASing partner NxCy. Ye shalt experience his talent this year.

My vote is for klmz. His movies are more impressive in my opinion.

Isn't it a bit against etiquette to nominate yourself? ;)

I think he just went by number of movies. I do think that listing the authors by their number of submissions is kinda suggestive... maybe by alphabet is better. Either way, for those 'voting' on something, or discussing who is best or whatever, I think this thread is just for nominating... voting can be done in the individual threads later.

Is it really correct to lump Master System in with Genesis? Just imagine if Nintendo had only one category for all its consoles.

For GBx, I absolutely agree with Spiderman 3. I just watched it again for the first time in a while, and I was absolutely blown away...again. This is one of the best marriages of a dedicated and experienced TASer and a game waiting to be TAS'd I've ever seen. It's a sharp reminder for myself to strike down any ego I may have surrounding PoP ;) Also I nominate alden to do some sort of "best gruefood of 2008" thing which may or may not involve colouring dinosaurs :D

"Best" as in "good, but still rejected :(" or "so very bad, it deserved to be nothing but rejected"?

Ahem. It's not right to praise an improvement run for its predecessor's merits.

Makes me wonder why you didn't nominate these three TASes at the N64 category then also.

Last year there was a Lucky Category. We should re-institute that, and I nominate Afaq/Gia's King's Bounty Run. Also, BloobieBla's OoT for N64 of the year. Adelikat: are you keeping track of all the nominations?

There NEEDS to be the pokemon run in there... more like a pokemon glitch, though EDIT: I think that should be the GBx game of the year

There were only 6 runs for the SMS published this year. And I think the N64 only had one more than that. So maybe we should have a SMS/N64 category just to lump all the reject consoles into one pile? ;)

I think there needs to be a new category. Best TAS'ing Team Then move all those "Co-Authored" runs to that category. Just a thought. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

It seems that anyone who made at least 7 published movies can be nominated for Top producers of TASes: *Censored* - 7 1080 NES Super Mario Bros 1091 NES Little Samson 1129 GBA Castlevania - Aria of Sorrow 1164 NES Jackal 1198 GBA "Maxim Version" Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance 1219 GB Ninja Gaiden Shadow 1222 GBA Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
