It's actually a matter of how far you run. The echoes are supposed to be catching up to Samus, but the glitch is that they start out waaay behind. The way sprites work is that their position loops every 512 pixels, and so an echo, when trying to catch up from way off screen to Samus, will be visible for a screen, invisible the next, visible the next, etc., until it reaches Samus. Apparently it was assumed that echoes will never be more than a screen away from the visible screen.

That's a script action; no damage. ... it just dawned on me I know way too much about SM.
It took THAT to make you realize?

the nicest thing the spacetime beam has brought to me is this http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/776765118/np.smv i just wanted to rekill kraid with plasma but now that is freaking awesome glitched :D , can anyone kill him? edit: in the end the smv just swaps the room but it freezed completly while recording the smv .. it also changed the size of the frame display and finally crashed my snes9x but in the smv now nothing happens in the last 1000 frames beside trolling my inputs o_O(weird..)

Crazy news. Additional steam boost somewhere? Can't think of any further door optimizations, so this must be the only possibility in my eyes.

Not really, the answer is much more bland, easy and anticlimactic than that...

Reset glitch so you can use the speedbooster and highjump in Ceres? ...nah, that'd probably get you into the 50's.

Hmm, then I guess by manipulating the countdown timer by adding lag to doors, making it display a '01 second higher without true time saver in the in-game framecount (in other words, you still finish Ceres at 3126 ingame frames), right?

Indeed. This only works for one room though, every other room already has a optimal "timer cycle" or whatever. 49.23

Oops, I didn't notice that while writing the post (at which I got disturbed for a moment before submitting it). Good job, Cpadolf.

This forum has been kinda dead lately. Last I heard, there were 2 different any% runs being worked on. Anyone mind giving a progress update on their runs?

It's being worked on, though at the moment not very quickly. And we are reworking a large part of the run, but about 90% of it can be hexed back to normal (with some effort).

I just got a temporary job, so I can't really work on anything at the moment.

Thanks for the update guys. Looking forward to both your runs. Hope you find time to finish them eventually.

iam looking nearly everyday for some NEW stuff in SM but the more i search the more desperate it gets ;) (does not mean i didn't find anything yet ;) ) iam still working on metroid movies as some might know with many help of namespoofer and some tips from Kej.. i just wanted to ask if someone finds odd or strange things/bugs (it does not matter if they are good for a tas or faster/slower etc.) to send them to me :)

Hero: To be honest now, I probably won't make a any% after all, seeing as both (ingame and realtime ones) are already in work by experienced and talented SM-TASer, who I feel are able to produce good enough quality on their own that isn't worth the time waste to be improved just to save a few frames/seconds at most. However, I might still do my version of the RBO someday, as I feel I could still show new and unexpected tricks, even now. Producing completely new runs with many surprises was always my main motivator, after all. As of now, I'm still working on SMR and will release a new WIP soon if nothing comes in the way, so stay tuned. :-) Also, a question to moozooh:
moozooh in April 2007 wrote:
I myself use that as a motivation for the run I'm currently producing as well, but I will continue working on it even if someone will submit a run only marginally slower than mine (I refuse to believe someone can make it faster, definitely not in this case). Moreover, the recent events related to it, including Kejardon solving a possibility for 9% run, didn't stop me as well, even though they easily could.
Since you refused to believe that someone could make a more than one minute faster run than yours, and the truth about it is out now, do you mind letting the community know whether you still plan to finish your Speed Booster version of the 14% run someday? After all you mentioned many times that you did alot of tests for it, and it would be sad to let all that testing work die for nothing instead of taking the chance to contribute a totally new run never done before, especially when you already have testing experience on it, don't you think? EDIT: Ok, I thought moozooh managed to get over himself by now, but seems I was wrong again. Sorry for asking.

Here comes a huuuuuuge christmas gift! (courtesy of ShinyDoofy). Only a few runs in the world deserve this treatment, only a king of kings should be awarded with lifetime achievement award, only a star among trillions of stars have earned the right a place in our heart.. forever! Ladies and gentlement, without further delay, I give you a high quality run of cpadolf's 100% run. But hold on, you thought that was just it? HELL NO! Whats so special about this encoding is that it has no cutscenes! So, download the file, watch it and see how slowly your brain melts down from all the extra (thanks to no cutscenes) superfast maneuvers and whatnot. Enjoy! http://rapidshare.com/files/176875775/smetroid-tas-100_-nocutscenes-HQ-cpadolf.mkv.html
