Okay, here we go. I've recently been considering making a movie for a N64 game, but I have yet to find a suitable candidate. The games that i've been considering (sm64, banjo kazooie/tooie, others) are generally unsuitable because of emulation issues or someone else is doing them. Can someone recommend a good game to TAS? thanks

You don't have to do a TAS of a game you want to do entirely on your own. For instance, if you somehow help Sami with Banjo Kazooie, I'm sure everyone who cares about that game (Sami himself including) will be grateful to you.

No, what you should do is lurk around the discussion forum for some popular game like OoT and whenever someone posts a new glitch or technique to exploit, pop up with a remark about how your run you're working on will just 0wn everyone else's, without releasing your own finds or so much as a WIP, and keep stringing along the community for a few months...basically like TSA, who created the OoT topic here.

sound like a sick-ass idea. (opposite to which is a sick, ass-idea :P) anyways, I won't be doing BK though because Sami has completed a sizable portion of the game already. IF anyone does wan't to make a joint effort to TAS a game with me, that would be awesome. Also, I didn't mention this in the beginning, but I will be open to making a psx TAS, and keep in mind, I want to make the run look as awesome as possible. EDIT: this post was in response to moozoohs response

Keep in mind that it's extremely unlikely anyone will know about your noble intentions unless you, well, inform them. :P

Any game you enjoy and are familiar with is a good game to TAS...whether or not it is entertaining will decide if it will be published or not :-) I'm pretty familiar with most games for the N64, and the emulator, so I could give you a few pointers. If you posted (or PM'd me) a list of games you like I could give an opinion on how good they would be. Of course, that's all it would be, an opinion. Comicalflop, Raiscan and I tested a lot of ROMs for the N64 on mupen a few years ago, but the website we hosted the opinions on folded. Shame.

I think a lot of you are misunderstanding my intentions... Basically I'm asking what game you would like to see TAS'd, then I'll do it. I'm seeing if I can get some experience with a new game. something like Gex would be great, but of course, you've already done it and by the looks of it, it seems more optimised than if I were to do it.

My Gex 64 run is very improvable. It'd be awesome if you tried to improve it. It's a pretty simple game and improving a published movie would give you a nice confidence boost. Otherwise, games I would like to see TASed (competently) that haven't already been done as you say would be: Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire Castlevania Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness South Park To name but a few, but most of what you are asking can be found in this thread.

Jet Force Gemini should be done. Or at least done quicker.

There's a few of us more than a little annoyed with Kickle Cubicle. If you're looking for an idea to get your feet wet, TAS-wise, I'd recommend giving that one a look. It's fairly easy to make video that looks darn-impressive, there's easily broken into small chunks that (as far as I know) can be worked on independently, and there's a few unknowns that lead to some optimization questions that leave room for someone to show genius.

Thanks, the thread was a great help. I went there and I found that comicalflop was doing some test runs. Can anyone provide a link to these? the only one i found seemed to be broken
