I just remembered Medieval. I haven't played it in years, so I can't really decide on whether it would make a good TAS or not.

You'll need to use Eternal SPU plugin for now.
I had to pull that back out for use with Parasite Eve, because PEOPS sounds like crap. However since you mentioned it...
It seems to be a SPU IRQ issue like Metal Gear Solid, so maybe I can I find a workaround to make it work with other SPU plugins.
I do see that option in PEOPS sound plugin, so I'll check that out. But Eternals sound much better for PE anyways. And I'm not using Moody. I'm using PEOPS in PCSX. Edit: Tried it with the SPU IRQ box checked with PEOPS, doesn't work with Castlevania Chronicles. Oh well. Edit: Got Frogger to work. Same issue - use Eternal's plugin with SPU IRQ checked.
Taking over the world, one game at a time. Currently TASing: Nothing

I'd really would love to see a Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo TAS.

I would think so. I think there's a lot of room to play around and be creative when tasing this game, and I don't think the score is very restrictive. So some crazy rapping might be entertaining, plus maybe some impressive high scores.

If thats the case maybe the same would go to Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero.

From what I've read of PaRappa the Rapper, the player has a certain limited amount of control over what the characters actually say -- getting to invent their own raps, in a sense. This is the only way I could see such a TAS being entertaining; otherwise, as with DDR/Guitar Hero, all you'd see would be an endless string of perfectly-timed inputs. Hell, you could play DDR entirely with a bot. And unlike King's Bounty, it wouldn't be entertaining.

I made a TAS of PaRappa the Rapper because I wanted to have a video with all of its songs played like they were supposed to be played. This is not so easy to make in real time. Also, the story is funny + the characters are cute + I had never played the game since I was ~13 (most of us are here because of the nostalgia :P).
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

I agree wholeheartedly. It's a really cool game and it would be nice to have a video around that shows how the songs are supposed to sound.

Where's Final Fantasy 8? I'd like to see a run on that, what with the whole drawing system and all, it'd also be a complicated run. I'm having thoughts of doing it now.

Wasn't 8 the one where enemy levels were based on your own, leading to one of my college friends complaining about Odin powerleveling his party?

That's the one. Drawing system and all. The good news with that is that leveling isn't necessary, and could possibly be preferred. You can get almost every single magic skill in the game through drawing, refining items into magic, and refining magic into their more powerful forms. Some magic can be obtained from more leveled versions of monsters, but item drops and GF abilities would provide full magic for pretty much anyone who needs it. A lot of the good stuff comes from GF skills, most of which have to be learned by gaining AP in battles. Most monsters don't give crap for AP, but some give ridiculous amounts, like the late-game Cactuars. This might mean that some leveling would be required to get specific abilities, such as magic-refining, card-refining (which is incredibly useful), and handy command abilities (such as Mug). Several of the limits can be heavily abused, especially since they're extremely random. The chance of a limit being available is inversely proportional to HP percentage, and I'm pretty sure Luck has a bit to do with it; still, I've seen it show up on a character with full HP, so we know it could be manipulated if need be. Examples: --Quistis can use an item to teach her Degenerator, which can one-shot most normal monsters (for the necessary battles, or for fun power-leveling of GF abilities late-game), or other fun abilities like Micro Missiles (the item for which has plenty of 'chances' to drop in disc 2). --Zell with heavily boosted strength can pump out serious damage just doing his Mach Kick and Booya attacks chained together during Duel, which could be pulled off with incredible speed in a TAS. --Selphie's Slot can pull out doubled or tripled magic, and special limit spells like The End (which can kill bosses, and looks really cool). --Once Squall gets his ultimate weapon (which is fairly easy to get through card synthesis, but would require a significant amount of effort to acquire the cards for), Lionheart can do simply ludicrous amounts of damage. The Renzokuken by itself can do a rather large amount of damage, too, and Fated Circle (and I think Blasting Zone, too, but I'm not sure) is useful for hitting multiple targets with some large damage. The biggest thing about FF8 is that it's still a Square RPG, and we all know how much the story plays into it. With TAS precision and speed, there would be more story than action in many cases, until near the end of each disc; more than likely, this would be a project for the fans more than just the average gamer. Believe me, though, when I say that I'd love to be proven wrong. I'm a huge fan of FF8, and I'd work on this myself if I could find the time.

I hated Final Fantasy 8, I felt back then, and feel now, that it was a disgrace to the Final Fantasy series. That's why it wasn't on my list.

I think Jade Cocoon would make an intensely boring TAS. For those who haven't played it, the concept is similar to Pokemon, except the game runs at an incredibly low speed. There are lots of extra systems like the fact that the trainer enters battle at first (you have to 'summon' your monsters, another speed drain) and the merging of monsters (of questionable use in a TAS). Also I think the cutscenes are unskippable, but this is nothing new. I just don't see it being too interesting (I have the PAL version).

Yeah, you might be right about that. I think the best bet to use in the game, is the little Water Dragon you can capture at the beginning of the game. Has decent stats for the first creature available to capture. THis is just my speculation though. :3

I kept it off my list because I don't really think it would make a good TAS. But I'll have to disagree and say that IX was the disgrace. It reeked of over-marketing (check out the Coca Cola ad on Youtube; also, Brady Games paid them a hefty sum to be the only company able to produce a guide for the game, and proceeded to make a guide that was only half complete; you had to sign on to their website to actually use the damn thing properly), and the plot was garbage (specifically the final hour of the game). On the other hand, I thought VIII was refreshing and innovative. And the character development was the best of the series (except maybe X). The plot may have been insane, but at least I could wrap my mind around it (unlike VII, which will never make sense, thanks translators).

You know what I say, both of them were not a disgrace, I've never played Final Fantasy 9, but I was pretty darn close to beating Final Fantasy 8.

I slogged through most of VIII, but as soon as I found out what the final dungeon entailed, I just quit playing. I really think Square screwed the pooch on that one with the magic/combat. I didn't like how there was no penalty whatsoever to having every character use a GF on every turn, unless you count sitting through the animations every time a penalty. Once I collected 100 of a spell, and junctioned it to a character's stat, I never wanted to use the spell, because then their stats would go down. I really did like the game, but the combat was just atrocious. And I actually liked IX, but that's because I'm an equipment whore when it comes to RPGs. Every time I find a shop with new items, I can't leave until all my characters are reequipped with the best gear.

Jesus fucking christ, can we please have a thread with a FF game in it that doesn't turn into a discussion about which game is the best/worst? It's 9/6 by the way.

I didn't mean for it to turn into a discussion. I merely stated what I think about Final Fantasy 8. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to games. Some people like FF8, some don't. I'm one of the few that really hates it. This is all I'm saying on this. :3

No no, I was the one that started the Final Fantasy 8 discussion. Terribly sorry about complaints. Lets just go back to the wishlist.
