personally, i wouldn't watch this speedrun, even though this game is in my top 3 of all time, after mario 64 and WoW. I'd rather play it through for 15 hours than watch a video of it. the run through midgar might interest me...might. put the vids up and i'll check'em out.

you could always use a stop-motion camera (one of those thingies that saves a frame every minute or so)

Wow! Once again there is a run in progress that is absolutely must-see when it's done. I sure would like to know what emulator he is using and with what kind of rerecording upgrades.

I've always enjoyed watching those FF7 runs, seeing how much faster everything got when monsters didn't use their 6-10 second attacks and such. It's great to see you guys getting into TASes too! ...Or, well, something similar to TAS anyway.

If he's gonna go to all the trouble to do this, then why not include that too? It's annoying.

He could have used L1 to set the battle and message speed to maximum much quicker, and he somehow neglected to run after ascending the first flight of stairs. Edit: Nevermind, after reading the comments in the sidebar, I see that the walking was a sort of luck manipulation. Interesting. Alright, I'm feeling less harsh toward this project, now.

I've never played FFVII so I don't know for sure, but isn't FFVII a 3 or 4 disc game? If so, pcsx rr doesn't support multiple disc games right now.

I'd prefer faster (using the glitches). As for the Game Over limit break, that's debatable. It's faster, but much less entertaining. Maybe you could use it a couple times, but not abuse it for every boss.

I think you should either use every glitch at your disposal as long as it saves time, or go for entertainment and display every glitch that looks cool while otherwise keeping the same optimal movement and battle strategies. I highly recommend you watch the completed segments of GarlandTheGreat's tool-assisted speedrun (segment 1), and the WIP of his normal segmented speedrun as well. (but keep in mind that in his TAS he's not using any luck manipulation to keep it a realistic speedrunning ideal) Oh, and don't forget to check out the SDA topic :) PS: sorry if you already knew all that, I couldn't really tell from your opening post.

I would love to see bosses demolished by some tasing awesome. I really think it would take away from the entertainment value if you were to skip boss fights... I mean, boss fights are what make FF games.

Yes. As someone who only has the experience as playing though 2 or 3 times with no attempt at speed what so ever... Going out of your way to pick that up would save time? I would presume I am alone in this, but I would also enjoy some optional Bosses/Battles beaten. As well as the obvious Weapons (I am a PAL gamer, did NTSC get them?) being beaten, there are also the Turks battles (Gongaga, Gelinkia, Midgar) Midgar Zolum ((sp?) and also I guess he counts.) Lost Number, Godo and ...I think that is it. Godo alone suggests a bonus separate video, but I think those poor encounters deserve to beaten along the way, one way or another.

Make one glitched submission and one "normal" submission (no gamebreaking glitches like the no-encounter deely). Game Over should be used when you have it, since you won't really have it until towards the end of the game anyways.

It is certainly a popular enough game to quickly win votes for two different submissions. Of course, the glitched will probably come out first, and the normal second BUT I believe this should be vice versa
