Upon learning that The Lost Vikings can be done with three players, I've been interested in doing another run with three instead of two. I can control the characters fine and they all move accordingly, but whenever I replay the movie player 2 and 3 do not move at all. I've set the teamplayer mode on and all three players to their own configuration and it doesn't conflict with port 2. This is all on port 1. Player 1 - 1 Player 2 - 1-B Player 3 - 1-C I can't figure out what the problem is. Can somebody look into this?

I think I know. http://tasvideos.org/GMV.html The current Gens movie format does not support three players. The players 1-B and 1-C simply aren't saved to the file, only 1 and 2 is. The Snes movie format supports up to 5 players, though. http://tasvideos.org/SMV.html

Huh. I don't want to record with SNES because it looks terrible and is short 5 levels. So until Gens can support three players, it looks like this idea (for me anyway) is in queue. Thanks for the quick answer.

The SNES version looks much better to me, but it might be due to the filters available in the SNES emulators. It also sounds better. But I don't think the SNES version supports 3-player anyway, so it doesn't matter.

It could hack to current GMV file format revision to change the third byte of data (extra button data) to 3rd player data. and add a flag to preseve backward compatibility. or Wait until the next official release of Gens. It's movie format (.gir) supports movie recording of 8 players.

I think you should go for the hack right now Jyzero. It could take ages before they release the new Gens right?

Gens has 2xSAI Kreed, one of the same filters available as Snes9x. I think that looks good enough at leas. But aren't the movies encoded without filters anyway? The controller question: depends on how much work it is for you Jyzero. And also, on if Ouzo needs the 6-button controller specific buttons to switch characters. If those were lost with the third byte there wouldn't be any point in doing it. Is there anywhere I can read more about the new Gens format?
