So, on the news, a Sasquatch's (aka Bigfoot) body has been apparently found. Although I am not caught up in the news, I was wondering what you all thought of this. Ploy? Truth? After I do some more reading I, too, will comment... but I was curious about all of your takes on this news.

One of the two samples of DNA said to prove the existence of the Bigfoot came from a human and the other was 96 percent from an opossum, according to Curt Nelson, a scientist at the University of Minnesota who performed the DNA analysis. Bigfoot creatures are said to live in the forests of the U.S. Pacific Northwest. An opossum is a marsupial about the size of a house cat.
Not sure how you could confuse the two.

One of the two samples of DNA [...] was 96 percent from an opossum,
What about the other 4 percent?

It's not 96 percent from an opossum. It's 96 percent likely to be from an opossum.
<adelikat> I am annoyed at my irc statements ending up in forums & sigs

That isn't good. Although we are only a percent or five from a rat (or something like that) a big ass ape should resemble at least a bit of monkey or, best case, human.

Apparently, I was wrong. Opossums can be mistaken for lots of things.

Is there actually anyone who believes this is real? Do people generally still take Bigfoot hoaxes seriously? (edit- judging by the replies this thread has received, I guess not)

Nah, but there is a Sasquatch Beta that Tarus rides in Mischief Makers. Although there has been lots of interesting paranormal stuff in the news lately, the fact that the DNA is being mistaken for possum doesn't look good.

That's not a mistake, that's real-life trolling. These two photos are among the first google and wikipedia results if searching for "oppossum".

Because the media is stupid. That's why they can only cover one topic at a time for days on end. Like one random girl missing and that her mommy is in jail for not talking about it and all that bullcrap. Seriously, SHUT UP NANCY GRACE WE DON'T CARE.

Did you guys hear the radio show that was talking about it? and the maker of the big foot costume called in and told about how he made the costume and some guys must have bought it and used it.
