That is pretty cool, but I hope they explain thoroughly and repeatedly what a TAS is and how the video was made. And of course they shoud give credit where credit is due. I can't really understand anything they say, so I can't tell, but I do see they didn't remove the "this is a TAS" thing from the video, which makes me think they're being honest and intelligent about this.
We know exactly what is a TAS , we read every submission before broascasting.
We try to explain how and why they're made. First we explain the tools used then we are talking about the game himself; when it was made, why it is famous , who made it. At the end we're describing the tips of the specific TAS. Be sure we know what we 're talking about.
We respect the rules of TAS , make something fun, unexpected, beautiful. I've watch to much TAS on video website and all the time people don't understand it.
That's why I've made this broadcast. I've been contact by a french TV called "nolife tv" to go on the air and defend and explain TAS.
We are really bigs fan of TAS and we try to promote it in France.
I'm really sorry that we can't record one in english, but if we find a fan who can subtitiled it ... this would be great.
So see you for our next broascasting

I'm pretty sure he said something along the lines of...

I haven't looked at the translation he's gave, I just have to hope it's not far off what he meant.
I speak french fluently and watched it all. The commentary was good and I liked that you explained various techniques such as the continuous walljumps and armpumping and fast shinespark charge-up, etc, but words like "skill" and "dexterity" and "impossible" were thrown around more than I'd expect. Though you did make amends at the end by stresing "Tool-Assisted" and saying this was the first episode and just a taste and that you'd focus more on the technical aspects in future episodes, so I really have no qualms. I also apreciate that you explain the work that goes into these with the many rerecords and time put in to complete, and how savestates work like the average PC FPS's save system, though the explanation was split up into like 3 different parts, so maybe next time you can explain it all at once to better help the casual viewer.
Great job, and I look forward to watching more :)
Thanks everybody for your support!
Here the second episode of 88 Mph.

Always looking for comment and improvement :-)
Sorry in advance for writing in French.
Phil, I believe they did all the research they realistically could of before doing the video. You have to remember it's not a authors commentary or even someone who assisted in making the run. Also it's inopropiate to "pause" a run just to explain something. As it would irratate many viewers who just want to watch the run or critique on the commentary itself.

I never said the opposite.

People who just want to watch the run, they usually just watch the run.
I don't know if you understand French well, but what I do understand is that these videos are introducing people to TASes and explain what makes them so interesting and such.
Just watched episode 2.
Phil, I don't think they ever pretended to be doing a first viewing. At the beginning they warned how quick it would be and that the intro would be skipped and various levels were talked about before beginning, like Storm Eagle's and the final boss rush. Besides, the question/answer format is a natural easy way to get information to the viewer :)
As for the episode itself, it was great and seemed well put-together. Though for the "bonus" I doubt it took 1 month to verify its authenticity. After all, once the .smv is on the workbench, it can be tested and verified in 30 minutes by anyone. (I admit I didn't follow the history of that movie. I could be wrong and wouldn't mind some clarification.)
Anyway, keep up the good work, and I look forward to seeing every pre-N64 zelda TAS in one episode. :P

I will try to translate this into English:
"I have loved the 2 videos well. Your French is universal, not too 'French'; being Quebecois myself, I have not found 'whore' or 'shit' or whatever other Parisian expression.
"What I have loved less that is that it seemed that you did semblance of not having already watched the video. :P Thus not of bluff.
During the intro of the video, one sees you but one also sees the link of that site pending whatever minutes. I found it a little annoying because I saw bad for you.
"I have also found that you were yourselves informed and the majority of the info being valid. On another side, a little more of the technical info about how such tricks/bugs can be accomplished would not be of excess. Do not fear posing questions in private messages to the author and also do not fear 'pausing' the video to explain whatever thing.
"About this, I await your next video."
I think that Google Translate did a better job:

What I liked least was that it seemed that you were pretending not to have already watched the video. : P So no bluff.
During the intro of the video, you see but it is also the site link for a few minutes. I found it a little annoying because I saw evil.
I also noticed that you even when you were informed and that most of the information was valid. On the other hand, a little more technical information on how such stuff / bug can be accomplished would not be too many. Do not be afraid to ask questions in private messages to the author and also, do not be afraid to "pause" video to explain something.
Of this, I await your next video.
Phil, I don't think they ever pretended to be doing a first viewing.
Indeed but that's quite useful for newcomers. Now we are watching them because we are curious but what if they would do all movies in one shot, would you watch them all? Maybe not.
If such video would have been done during Morimoto's SMB3 movie confusion whether it was legit or AVI edited, I think it would have reduced, later, the hatred toward TASes there was in 2004-2005.
But these videos other goal is also for French people that don't understand English and thus can't read the submission text, movie description and forum for information.

Yes, I remember they are saying it 2-3 times in the movie. I don't remember there was a 1 month verfication. I don't know where they took that info.
Nice and short, and also the best explication so far for what defines a TAS. Nice work :)
(Je dirai aussi que le memory watch sers plus a voir la vitesse de l'avatar du joueur que les points de vie des boss)
