1) it seems I have nothing to learn from NameSpoofer (yay), since pretty much everything from red Brinstar on was quite average by today's standards (far from bad, though, I'd say it's close to hero's any%v1 or JXQ's 100%v2)
I see Namespoofer was right after all; even if he would release the WIP, it'd be hard to notice the timesaver that I accidently spoiled, unless it's pointed out for them. No worries though, it'll be highlighted in our any% WIP, no doubt. And indeed, many of his framecounts are infact equal to Hero's v1 and even his v2 in some cases.

As I already pointed out earlier your little timesaver was not existent in the WIP I posted, it ended at the missile lake. And besides, the timesaver is not THAT special...

You did? Oh then that's fine, my bad. Edit: I think you kinda misunderstood what I was trying to say here: the timesaver is indeed not special, I never implied that, I just pointed out that it looks very similar to the normal method when you watch it in realtime.

Indeed, I only saw it once I was told it was there :p

yes you can. Just position yourself to hit them with the echo on favorable frames. their drops will change on a frame by frame basis anyway.

Yay, 3rd discovery for me! Sorta.. I thought of the idea, and Taco.. well.. Taco-fied it, saves 2 frames: MAKE SURE YOU ENABLE LEFT+RIGHT IN THE OPTIONS http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/305807015/savestate-applied.smv Also, Taco found this too, saves 1 frame for the mockball after the first missle pack, he asked me to post it for him! ^^ http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1662170157/mockball%20improvement.smv Spoofzz Oh yeah, Hero of the Day, this was the trick mentioned in the 'StupidCpadolf' conversation, I didn't know it could be Taco-fied, so I apologize for that!

The left+right functionality receives more and more interesting applications. Good find!

Left+Right has been used that way throughout the 100% run, also that new jumptech down to the missiles is the only improvement I know for the run... so bummer I missed it :/ EDIT: Seems that it added some doorlag, so it is 1 frame slower in realtime. Phew :)

This is probably worthless, but I had the grapple beam clip me through a wall while playing a super metroid hack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OhbqWN_vnw The problem is that the hack obviously has tweaked some of the game's physics, so this might not be possible in Super Metroid. Still, I'm curious as to why this works and hope it has some obscure application somewhere :) Edit: It's also possible to get the wall clipping on your very first grapple attempt on the enemy. Not sure how to manipulate this, just got lucky I guess.

This is quite well known, and I don't know any uses for it except for lolz.

You can get to the gravity suit room before killing Phanto-

Oh. Right. Well, if you don't mind the game mercilessly laughing at your futile efforts. <_<

Haha, wait, so the 100% run could have used that all along? Early Grapple beam -> Gravity and the r-tank -> enter ship normally -> do a cleanup -> exit the area through crumble block -> pick up the water alcove missile. That skips a couple room transitions and the long-ass statue cutscene at the cost of slower setup and slower outdoor area. Which of them is faster, though?

The problem is that gravity is not actually there untill phantoon is dead... I don't know if any WS items are.

Bummer. :\ That would indeed be a surprising sequence break.

^INTERESTING yeah: what about killing phantoon and then "sequence breaking" into the gravity room to skip the scene

If doing so you would do WS normally up to the point of going back through the attic after that missile on the right edge, and glitch in to the gravity room. I dounbt it is faster but it'll be worth looking in to. EDIT: Oh, taco tells me you can go down from outside the top half of WS lake room, so it might work out if the glitch does not take to long to set up. EDIT again: I think that breaking in to gravity the wrong way needs X-ray :/

It's not fast (Crystal Flash followed by X-ray climbing up a screen), but it's faster than the statue, I think. Everything else ignored it'd probably be worth it. However, I think it's been considered already and was too slow, since you have to get grapple beam and x-ray scope before Phantoon, and both of those are better to get later (Plasma for Crocamire, space jump for X-ray). Not to mention the waste of ammo for the crystal flash. I don't know what the current route for 100% is, but I doubt it'll work well for skipping the statue.

The current 100% route takes Grapple early, that's the point. X-ray, however, not. Oh well.

O.o Failure, but did the grapple-bomb glitch in a different way tho.. EDIT:Taco says its not the grapple-bomb glitch and that you guys wont know what I'm talking about, so instead of editing it out, I'll type this long pointless sentence for you guys! Ty Taco! ^^ http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1342026972/NameSpoofer_gravityroom_early_noCF.smv Name lies to you! ^^ EDIT 2: Mmkay, I managed to get the same effect as with the grapple bomb, im done with this, going back to my movie. original bombgrappleglitch (for those who dont know): http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/184917595/bomb.smv Same effect with wall: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1091374839/O.o.smv To see where I was in the wall, use frame advance at the start of the movie. Done with this pointless thing

For confirmation none of them are there until Phantoon is dead. I learned this the hard way when trying to take the WS main street right supers early, kago ball through the robot into the hole and how can you continue your SS run from there.
