http://www.vimeo.com/1109226?pg=embed&sec=1109226 The first 60 seconds is iffy, but from then on it's amazing. Check it out. Very very cool stuff. On that note, anyone know of any band/site that focuses on music that sounds similar? Incorporates old timey sound effects to make a great piece of music like that. Doesn't have to be video game mixes. I've made the rounds at ocremix and vgmix, minibosses and all that, looking for more of the kind of stuff Chromelodeon's done(http://www.myspace.com/chromelodeon).

I love the spectrum tape loading sound. It gives me fond memories of my childhood. (Yes. I *am* a nerd.)

DJ Scotch Egg makes songs with nothing but game boy hardware and a loudspeaker.

Mindless Self Indulgence use some pretty oldschool effects too. It's not really similar but I like their music. The Mad Capsule Markets are also cool, check out their songs Fly High (PV has annoying background noise) or Chaos Step. Not oldschool at all and even less similar but whatever. xD You might like some songs by the Polysics too. But then again, maybe not! Nice. Too bad he doesn't explain it very much :( This might be review for some people here, but Aphex Twin is a big fan of old hardware, his song Peek 824545201 starts with a sample of the Spectrum. And there's his always popular Pac-Man EP on the software side of things.
