Whew! Finally done with this.
The Lost Vikings is about 3 Vikings, each with their own unique features, are abducted and have to make their way out traveling through different worlds and eventually encountering their abductor.

Each character has two major attributes:
Baloeg - Uses a sword and bow+arrow
Olaf - Uses a shield as protection and a glider
Erik - Jumps and uses his helmet to bash walls and enemies

The goal is to get all three vikings to the exit to continue to the next level. There are 42 levels in all. For some reason the SNES version only has 37.
Emulator used: Gens_Movie_Test9a_exe

-As fast as possible
-Uses no passwords
-Abuses programming errors in the game
-Takes damage to save time
-One player controls two characters simultaneously
-Genre: Platform
-Genre: Puzzle

A long game done quick.
I did the game with two players, and player 2 has to be on the same screen as player 1 or else player 2 won't move.
I abused a well-known glitch where I use a key in order to avoid being hurt from falling. I abuse some more here and there.
If you find some of the levels repetetive, I don't blame you. This game wasn't exactly built for speed, but I tried to make each level as interesting, unique, and efficient as possible.
I had to hesitate or slow down sometimes in order to control other characters, enemies or objects. Also, a few times I switch characters in order to control actions that, without doing so, would cause major damage or death.
I tried to get hit only in places where it would save the most time. Most of the time, getting hit will not save time.
Some enemies you can pass right by, some will hurt you by attack, and some are impassable so the enemies that are killed or attacked are done so for a reason. I tried to avoid as many enemies as possible.
Recorded at 6%. Anything faster would not have worked out too well.
Oh, and the Candy World music kicks ass. :)
Enjoy!

Done. BTW, do you have to use the same key config as I do to run the movie? (Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, my first submission) EDIT: I guess not.

i dont know. i've never had many problems (only ever 1 or 2 desychs) with my own config in play. i doubt i'm using the same key config as anyone else either but we'll see how this works now... EDIT - ok its working now. as i loved this game as a kid i'm sure i'll be voting yes simply as its the only run of this game that i know of. i'll post again in 50 mins time after watching it

I myself found this downloaded file is empty, but it's not. * stolen from www.wc3sear.ch *
Important Note: Some people see the zip archive empty after downloading. But its not. Simply right click on the zip file and choose "extract all". Or you can alternately use WinRAR or WinZip. There you right click on the zip file as well and choose "extract here" or "extract all"
It did not desync for me, i think it use same config as the one in Comix Zone. hosted a config here -> Gens.cfg -- about the movie, nicely done, but I was a bit bored most of the levels, but it gets interesting around near end levels, maybe its because of Puzzle game is not my type. It was hard for me to decide wether to vote yes or no, it deserve YES because I have not seen any mistake or any improvement you could do.

Man, this was awesome, especially for a first submission! One of my favorite puzzle games, a very well-done 2-player run of it...you, sir, get an easy YES vote from me. -Josh
but then you take my 75 perchance chance of winning, if we was to go one-on-one, and then add 66 and two-thirds ch...percents...i got a 141 and two-thirds chance of winning at sacrifice

well... that was 50 min i dont regret at all. that was an amazing run to say the least. people that are'nt familier with this game wont appreciate how hard this game is and may not feel the same way i do but it was simply brilliant. i fail to see even the smallest error in planning or mistakes in gameplay. quite simply put, without a doubt the best genesis movie i've seen along with the full run of kid chameleon. personaly i loved in the areas of candy land (mainly) how you have 3 vikings all floating up in the are at once and manage to control them all so well. also i noticed you control 2 characters at once? god damn dude that makes the game even more impressive. i'd vote yes more than once if i could, but i GUESS 1 will have to do lol. also try to get your config up on a site, or at least try and get bisqwit to host it for you so other people can view this brilliant movie as well if it desyncs for them as well.

Well the positive comments in this thread acually convinced me to use Gens (which is quite rare) to watch this movie, and I must say it was well worth it. This movie was very well done. I love the level that the "two players" work together so smoothly to get things done. It may be a long watch, but it was worth it. I'm voting yes. Also about the no vote, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Most videos now adays get a random no vote for no specified reason. Mine also has one, and i'm frankly surprised the new Super Metroid doesn't have one yet.

thats true. theres always 1 person who has to be diffrent to everyone else. 9 yes against 1 random no is'nt that much of a worry but still.

It could have been an accident...I've accidentally voted YES or NO sometimes and there's no way to take it back. I can see why some people might not like it. It's a very long movie, and I think if you are unfamiliar with the game it might not seem that interesting. In my opinion, this is very well done. I especially liked the parts where the warrior "rides" the shield bearer while he glides.

Yes, but that is even more of a reason to post a response why you voted no, and I believe in that case you did. The issue is not that people voted no, it is no reason was given. Improvement cannot be made if faults are not recognized.

I voted yes, because the 2 player handling was simply amazing. I think an improved run couldn't shave more then 2 or 3 seconds off of this 50 minute run, which is quite impressive. I saw a few times where I think Eric could have jumped a tad earlier, I think, but I could be wrong. It was worth the watch, though.

Overall, I liked this. I remember playing this a whole lot as a kid. Great planning and nice to see some multicontrolling for a change. Well spent 50 mins for me. :) Easy yes.

Thank you all. I was worried people may not like this run because of it's duration.

This was a brilliant run! It was almost as if all three were moving independantly! I'm voting YES!

I have a new idea on how you can make the movie better. I don't know if it is even possible, since it's never been tried in a movie before ... but here it is. At every available opportunity, repeatedly change the orientation of your character on successive frames. I know this sounds like a crazy, revolutionary idea, so I made up a little diagram, showing what you should do over a second of play time: Frame 1: (>^^)> Frame 2: <(^^<) Frame 3: (>^^)> Frame 4: <(^^<) Frame 5: (>^^)> Frame 6: <(^^<) Frame 7: (>^^)> Frame 8: <(^^<) Frame 9: (>^^)> Frame 10: <(^^<) Frame 11: (>^^)> Frame 12: <(^^<) Frame 13: (>^^)> Frame 14: <(^^<) Frame 15: (>^^)> Frame 16: <(^^<) Frame 17: (>^^)> Frame 18: <(^^<) Frame 19: (>^^)> Frame 20: <(^^<) Frame 21: (>^^)> Frame 22: <(^^<) Frame 23: (>^^)> Frame 24: <(^^<) Frame 25: (>^^)> Frame 26: <(^^<) Frame 27: (>^^)> Frame 28: <(^^<) Frame 29: (>^^)> Frame 30: <(^^<) Frame 31: (>^^)> Frame 32: <(^^<) Frame 33: (>^^)> Frame 34: <(^^<) Frame 35: (>^^)> Frame 36: <(^^<) Frame 37: (>^^)> Frame 38: <(^^<) Frame 39: (>^^)> Frame 40: <(^^<) Frame 41: (>^^)> Frame 42: <(^^<) Frame 43: (>^^)> Frame 44: <(^^<) Frame 45: (>^^)> Frame 46: <(^^<) Frame 47: (>^^)> Frame 48: <(^^<) Frame 49: (>^^)> Frame 50: <(^^<) Frame 51: (>^^)> Frame 52: <(^^<) Frame 53: (>^^)> Frame 54: <(^^<) Frame 55: (>^^)> Frame 56: <(^^<) Frame 57: (>^^)> Frame 58: <(^^<) Frame 59: (>^^)> Frame 60: <(^^<) Let me know what you think.
