My first question is, does the site need a new logo for videos?
And what about my idea? I just threw the elements on it without much work, just to show the idea, but of course, if people liked it I would make it look better, but I had no comments.
sasabe used the shiny 2.0 look on his images. It looked good on the first one, but the second one doesn't work well when in the real size. The first image would work well as a splash screen though, why don't you copy the text from a published video and put it there to see how it looks?
here's a giant page with examples of shiny logos:

Heh, must have missed it ^_^; sorry about that foda.
Two problems I noticed. One was the text bubble, I think that the bubble should be coming from the direction of her mouth, not pointing up in the air (following the finger's direction). It makes the text disembodied, like god is saying it.
The other problem was the choice of font. Although it is a good reference to 8-bit/16-bit text, it would have to be bold to work. However, I think the best option would be to choose a whole new font, one that is on the thicker side, so there is more of a presence.
With your question about do we need a new logo, no, probably not. But it is always fun to brainstorm art ideas! At least for me ;)
Yeah, I did put a little of the glass style in there... But that's cause I've seen it in a lot of gaming sites, I thought you guys would like it.
I can definitely do other styles. You can check out some of my work here:

I've seen a couple movie posters from the Total Recall movie. And then I figured since I pretty much killed that game so badly, I thought I would rebuild the logo a little bit:
Okay, and now I re-did my version of TASVideos Total Recall style by re-doing the "Interplay" logo. "Interplay" is usually found on the bottom-right-hand side of the screen when you first turn the game on! I managed to simply play with a couple of letters and even do my own version of the "S" making it "Superplay" altogether, lol...
