This is a NES game, which does not deserve to have a topic created in the NES category of the forums. Holy shit. This game is overflowing with phail. I was reading about Action 52 and was interested in how the whole "Cheetah Men" thing was like, so I found and played the ROM. What I found, was suck. I had no intention to actually make a movie, but the horrid programming led me to sharing this with all of you. Although I never meant to die, I left the deaths in for comedic effect (death #2 had me crying.) Things to watch for: Animations, quality indeed. Deaths Boundaries Random appearance/disappearance of sound effects [mainly when level 2 hits] Level 1's end Moonwalking bugs Youtube FCM

Shameless self plug. Lorenzo the Comic also has it youtubed for viewing ease. Not to steal your thunder (sorry if I did), but agreed, it's a piece of garbage. It's the sort of thing that's so terrible, it manages to achieve a state of transcendence; in its imperfections, it manages to become a Chthulian being: frightful, but on a higher level than the rest of us. Truly something to be feared.

The part of this game that cracks me up the most is the obvious reference to Super Mario Bros. level 1-1.

Haha! Glad to see I wasn't the only one who noticed that.

On another note, if you look around on Youtube, you'll find some awesome remixes of the main tune done by the Japanese. Apparently these came as the result of a fad in that country surrounding this game.

Is it not a good sign if I watch ferret's run and make mental note of possible improvements?

Sadly I do not think it is a good sign, flop. You do not want to play this game/improve a run, because, basically, it sucks. d ^_^ b trying to save you from impending doom. <3

But that's what's great about Active's games- they're just that bad!

So this is where the music from the first stage of Syobon Action comes from...

Shameless self plug : http://d.hatena.ne.jp/GOCHA/20071028/mml_cheetahmen2 Edit: I wrote Cheetahmen 2 main theme song in MML (Music Macro Language, FlMML). Press play button, and you'll hear the sound.

It is only shameless if I can read it, haha ^_^ ;P Yeah, I am blind. The sad part is, that tune is catchy... (the original AND the remixes)

Hah, that was very good. Very accurate. For some reason the first remix that comes to mind for me is this one. I don't know why, but the Cheetahmen song is just too catchy!

Bleh. Well, in that case, just go to the main site, which is... - http://sound.jp/kobapie/ ...and download the files in the 19th and 20th link. OR: In that same page, search for "2SSH" (without quotation marks), and the first match will be that link. Download it, and the one immediately below for both arrangements.

I love this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gGBUwhMiTI&feature=related If it were longer, and had an MP3, I'd love it forever.

I searched nicovideo for the description text, and found it (except, you know, higher quality sound), so I went to nicosound and requested it to be made into an mp3. I doubt a full version will be made anytime soon so this is the best you'll get :) Go to http://nicosound.dip.jp/sound/sm1398453 and click on the link at the very bottom-left of the page, next to the play arrow, to download it.

Cool! Awesome! Thanks for doing that, bkDJ! What kind of music is that called? Did anyone else enjoy this?

I suspected something along those lines. If you watch carefully, Apollo's walking animation changes slightly in level 2; plus there's that bizarre graphical glitch that's available only in level 1, but other levels include an enemy clipping glitch, and level 1 is the only one with falling deaths! I wonder why the inconsistency.
