Well, that makes things totally different of course. Thanks for clearing that up and sorry for the misunderstanding.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1483085811/Improved%20Torizo%20exit.smv By unspinning on the frame you turn around to start door transitions earlier you're able to keep your speed after going through them. It saves 15 frames here.

If you mean shooting the cactus enemy earlier by entering the room at a higher Y value then yes it is useful, hero and I already used it in the 100% run (my find, but it is pretty obvious if you just sit down and think about it) Otherwise I saw no other improvement. I like that you are searching for new tricks, we never get too many researchers so keep on rolling. Also to tacos find: I don't like my runs getting obsoleted before submitting them, but an amazing timesaver non the less. This and all the other things you find will probably make me do an improved version of the 100% run in a year or so, if no one else already has at that time.

Hmm, what a pity! OK, I'll try to search for much further tricks. (However, I can't write text in Enligsh well as you see. So I can't join your discussion but can show you my SMVs. :) ) another http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/346350104/RedBrinstar_Fall.smv

Damn, I was going to work on that exact idea right after watching Cpadolf's latest any% TAS! Seems like a low% run has even less surprising things to showcase now. But please, go on. :)

Actually, you write text in English better than many native English speakers do. Your SMVs are always welcome, too!

Seems like we have another promising SM-TAS talent here. Very nice finds gstick! Also nice find to keep full momentum during the Torizo exit, Taco. The only way to do that was yet again to combine the turn around door trigger with the aim down animation. The SM engine acts really strange in some situations...

Time to WIP our RBO =). Weeee! Compared to Cpadolf, we are 177 frames ahead (the comparison is fair since no difference has yet occured, Brinstar being 59 frames faster). Minor improvements everywhere, find them for yourself. Have fun. EDIT: Almost forgot, we switched back to 1.43~ so don't try it in 1.51 =)

Really... I mean, there where just so much... I dunno... sigh. It's insane, on so many levels it is insane. I feel the 100% run is getting old already...

Hah, and Saturn didn't believe me when I said that using mockball when planting bombs could speed up the Dachora room. :D Nice strategy in Brinstar mainstreet. Originally I thought of avoiding damage there (it was a sacrifice of 3 frames or so relative to the previous method) and spending the energy elsewhere, but it seems your method is just the right way of spending it. :) The rest of Brinstar wasn't surprising for me, though, since it was the exact stuff I had in mind (or put into tests) when thinking up ideas for low% over the last several months. But it's really cool to know all the ideas have worked out! Another surprise was Crateria mainstreet where you used mockball to plant the first bomb, then unmorph to plant the second. How much faster is that? Overall, excellent WIP.

It seems like they will be going with the route I outlined many pages ago, as opposed to the route Saturn used. I only came to this conclusion because the reserve tank was not collected. It would be awesome if they went for the any% run instead though :P The run seems full of new and interesting stuff. Thanks for posting it. Quick question. In the big green room with the blue gate, it is possible to get a third damage boost off the bug in the third tube (right before the gate). Did you know about this? Maybe the way you guys did it was faster, but I figured I would ask.
They're off to find the hero of the day...

I checked and it seems the way they do it is 2-3 frames faster.
