Extraction 1:07 video (8MB, .mkv, 352x240) I'd still love to know why I can't save properly. Once That is resolved, I'll probably be able to encode the whole run any way you like. Well, as an mkv, but I mean cutting it up into levels or one long file or whatever.

Thanks for the vid bkDj! Carathorn of the elite was also kind enough to capture all other runs i've done(well extraction too so got two of those now): http://www.thengamer.com/PD/23-Misc/Henrik%20Norgren%20-%20Defection%20-%20PA%20-%20114%20%28TAS%29.wmv http://www.thengamer.com/PD/23-Misc/Henrik%20Norgren%20-%20Extraction%20-%20PA%20-%20107%20%28TAS%29.wmv http://www.thengamer.com/PD/23-Misc/Henrik%20Norgren%20-%20G5%20Building%20-%20A%20-%20034%20%28TAS%29.wmv http://www.thengamer.com/PD/23-Misc/Henrik%20Norgren%20-%20Investigation%20-%20PA%20-%20232%20%28TAS%29.wmv http://www.thengamer.com/PD/23-Misc/Henrik%20Norgren%20-%20Maian%20SOS%20-%20A%20-%20133%20%28TAS%29.wmv All TAS'es done so far are now captured! So Villa coming up next, i will most likely start a new m64 for that since the m64 isnt playbackable from beginning anyways. Prolly won't be done with it for a while but at least desynchs shouldn't be as big problem as it was on Extraction.

I solved my save problem... so, I'll make a video with the whole run later tnight. (those WMV's have like 4x more pixels than mine but are blurrier, less detailed, and have worse aliasing?) Edit: And here it is! Full WIP, 36MB I made it 30fps because the game hardly ever runs at a full 60, and that helped with the filesize. (I can make a higher res, full framerate version if anyone wants, but I think it looks pretty good as it is) Can't wait for villa :)

The wait is over bkDj! m64: http://download.yousendit.com/D56CFFAE276E59B6 savestate: http://download.yousendit.com/491B888943FB339B(required for synch) Final time was....1:16! Beats wr by 16 seconds and Special agent wr by 1 second! Again the game didn't proceed to next level...I am considering screwing reset this time and instead to it like this: i'll redo end of investigation so that i press accept and then end the movie there, then paste in extraction vid after that so it looks like it proceeds like normal. Then just do same thing for Villa/Chicago. Looks imo better than some random resets. So even if it's kind of cheating at least the end result would be a vid very similar to a normal full run.

Looked awesome, keep it up. Don't know about the pasting in videos idea, but I don't know about any better ideas.

Considering bkDj already did it for extraction and that by now some sort of pasting in is required for a full single segment run, the only real diffrence with my idea is to make it look like a real full segment run, and not alot of resets in it that's only making it a little more(less??) legit. But oh well, For Chicago i'm gonna start a new file anyway, resets tend to desynch too much and i hate going through that again.

Wyster, I don't mind cutting and pasting different m64 recordings into one file. However, the run won't be accepted on this site unless it's a single m64 that syncs for at least one other person... I think.

Umm i think i'm gonna need a better defined "single m64 that synchs". The M64 now doesn't synch if you play from beginning, it only synchs when using savestates to load beginning of some levels. I'm pretty sure that's not acceptable either? And if so then as i originally thought the run would never get accepted anyway, that's why i thought pasting together runs and stuff could make a better visual experience since it won't really matter in the publication issue anyway?

I'm all for visual experience for the avi watchers, but your run does sync all the way through the reset, no reason to throw that away, just keep resetting (imho).

Wait, it synchs?? That's strange since it doesn't for me...guess i should try again...

Well, to be more precise, it synchs when recording to avi. it does not synch if I am just watching. *shrug*

Sorry for the long delay but Chicago proved ALOT more difficult than expected. Chicago PA 0:27.85(Wr is 0:27.48) M64: http://download.yousendit.com/CF18E39E5CCD3590 Savestate: http://download.yousendit.com/C5D346662220BBE0 The reason why i'm actually .37 behind wr is still unknown. I magicly loose time about halfway through the run even with perfect strafing. My guess is that it's some lag issue. PAL version of the game also lags less on Chicago. Oh well, this was my 3rd redo of the level and i'm NOT going to try to improve further, it's simply not possible to beat the console time. Anyways, for some good news i was able to proceed to G5 without a reset :)

Hmm, there's not really any reason the emulated ROM should lag more than the console version. Whatever. Looked very good.

Mischief Makers lags more than the console, as do a few other N64 games, like Mystical ninja.

I stand corrected. Will bkDJ be encoding this?

G5 proved much easier than anticipated, mostly due to very little lag which means smoother TAS'ing and less desynchs, so here it is: M64: http://download.yousendit.com/C5FF692749005305 State: http://download.yousendit.com/E32538A7364631EA End Time: 0:46(6 seconds below wr) So Infiltration next(another reset required...Seems they come every other level), I should be able to use some strat better than wr strat there and beat it by 20ish seconds. Btw, thanks again for making vids bkDj!

Infiltration done! Took a little longer than expected because i had some problems with the last interceptor. But well, i was able to finish it today with a pretty descent result. It's obviously not completely optimized but it's as good as i could get it. M64: http://download.yousendit.com/E6E82680322BF0DF State: http://download.yousendit.com/07A17ABD57CA8F62 End time: 1:34.83(11 seconds below wr) So rescue next, definately one of my favorite levels in this game.

I've had a dedicated server for a while as a seedbox but I went ahead and put apache on it to make managing my encodes easier for this site. Anyway, infiltration is up, and I'll just add files every time I make em. first 3 levels are in the larger file with a date. http://bkdj.net/index.php?dir=tas/pd

you should set it up so that it downloads the mkv files instead of trying to view it as a page.. now it requires using 'save as' which is sort of annoying. thanks for supplying these videos though =)

If you click the icon of the file instead of its name, it tries to download it I think. I don't even know php, I just got the first php-directories-listing script google gave me. If you want to tell me how to fix it, I'd be glad to. :) P.S. My browser doesn't try to open mkv files as a page because that's just silly in the first place. :v LATE EDIT: The script has a $forcedownload variable with default false, but I don't want it to be true because I want images, html, php, txt and other files that are cool with browsers to NOT be forcedownloaded. Seriously a right click is a small price to pay. Maybe you can change the settings in your browser? Either way, I will change the index.php to use your code if you have a way for it to only force-download audio/video files.
