Im not sure if any of you are interested in this game. I made a time attack for this using the newest version of virtual NES i beat the game in about 8 minutes and 30 seconds. Here is a link to the .VMV file, i have a video but i'll only torrent it if i get enough response.

Evilheart
It's your typical jump and attack game. The funny part about this game is that there are all these weird things that aren't in the movie, like what's up with the guys in the jetpacks? LOL
Evilheart
I went back through total recall and fixed all the flaws i noticed. My new time is 7 minutes and 58 seconds. If anyone notices any flaws or knows any tricks to make this faster let me know and i'll add them. Please don't comment on the last to enemies before the final boss, for some reason my turbo buttons don't work in my emulator on that screen?

Yeah i use virtual NES instead of famtasia mostly because i can't get famtasia to play at the right framerate ever and it's buggy for me i don't understand why? You can check out my speed attacks at www.speedruns.org though for now.

Just for entertainment, first stage, tell me what you guys think... =)

This involves dancing techniques (at the beginning of the tune). This also includes dancing to the gunshots in the living room. =)
If it ain't too boring, then maybe I can put some effort into this game sometime around. =)
Okay, after this thread has been sitting in dust for 4 years, I resurrect it for one cause: to challenge this game and try to get within 8:00 like EvilHeart did. But that can be tough.
One thing I clearly noticed going into the Subway train stage was that using rapidfire-B (while in the air) made Quaid look like E. Honda (street fighter) doing a hundred-hand slap. It could be a glitch, but I been using that to my advantage! It is true that I was able to finish off the gray soldiers within a split second using this method.
Already I am on stage 4. I'll test-play through this game to see how long it might take, then I might do it again to try to set a reasonable record. 1st WIP coming soon. =)
Last night, I set a time of 8:21. I'll post a WIP of this one (within the next 3 hours). This also includes an improved version of dancing to the music and the gunshots of the apartment in stage 1.
I should have known better than to expect an intensely broken, 8-bit version of the "TWO WEEKS" scene. An optimized version of this could be interesting... though I wouldn't put too much stock in a run of this being published.
Get your TAS to Mars? ;)
Guys! A breakthrough. I got this tip from YouTube:
I researched it, and I clearly noticed Quaid actually went through a floor (one screen to the right) after defeating the Oddjob. I am looking to TAS this game one last time! However, it will be a WIP only. Even it seems perfect, no exception. I will not submit my next attempt, but I do project a cut-down of 20 to 30 more seconds off my previous (6:53.58), and even broadcasting it on YouTube. If I submit this as a 5th attempt and the audience goes insane, then that's where Mars can be blown into space dust at the flick of a switch. =/
Here's what I am talking about...

Uh, this is what the FIRST submitted movie should have looked like, not the last WIP... I don't get it, but frigging submit it. (It rhymes with it!)
Sage advice from a friend of Jim: So put your tinfoil hat back in the closet, open your eyes to the truth, and realize that the government is in fact causing austismal cancer with it's 9/11 fluoride vaccinations of your water supply.
I fear that NESVideoAgent will look at this movie as desynched like it did a few others. I'm laying low until it's safe. That robot is not going to ruin this one! Please understand. =)
