You may aswell ban everyone for overreacting so badly about it. Look at me, I'm just ignoring his words, you don't see me trying to derail this thread actually I feel ashamed for having to post this, and excessivly derailing a thread is much more of a reason to ban someone IMO
In the interest of not having to consider banning any people, I propose we consider banning Super Metroid. It doesn't have any feelings to consider, after all. Also, t'would be hilarious.
Its not clever to claim perfection on a game like this, but equally its not right to claim perfection can never be reached.
As much as some people are tempted by that, it would be profoundly wrong IMO. Since there isn't evidence of trolling, flaming or outbursts while not contributing. Many people are guilty of these actions towards him, not that I'm saying it was entirely unexpected or unjusified. He does contribute, but not in ways which are generally helpful towards the thread, but there is strong evidence that he does contribute like with that recent glitch on the Mother Brain. I don't really agree with your statement of giving community a bad name as most people don't follow (or care about) board politics.
I'd hate to see this topic get locked. I can understand giving credit where credit is due, but this topic in general seems to get very hyper competitive.
There's only a finite number of possible improvements (you can't improve a 1000 frame movie more than 1000 times), so in theory perfect movies exist. In practice, that perfection is unlikely to be reached (especially on SM) and there's always one frame somewhere.
And even if someone should create a perfect movie, we'll never know if it's perfect, since it can't be proven.
So after all, we'll never be able to label a movie "perfect" since we just don't know. [1]

nope. everyone wants to express their opinion. Saturn, please spot claiming perfection and using excuses because you dont want to admit your wern't perfect. it doesn't matter if your perfect or not, what matters is if you help people create more perfect runs. you aren't helping that at all, because you rarely show anything that you may have found. Taco, Kriole, hero, Cpadolf, moozooh, evilchen, Tonski, and myself show improvement if we find it (or for people like me, would show it if we found it).
On topic though, nice finds Taco, hero, and Kirole/Cpadolf.

Not true. There can be 1000 ways to save a total of 1000 frames, and then another improvement that saves 1000 frames and has a positive effect on the next set of 1000. You're limiting your scope too much.
Wow. Saturn makes one post, you guys make twenty in response, and the topic degrades. And DK, wtf, dude.
Yeah, and I can name many more things that everyone wants but are not to be satisfied through the means of an internet forum. If the opinions don't differ, there's no point in expressing each of them separately every single time. There's a concept known as redundancy, and it is exactly what happens.
I think tub meant a move that only was 1000 frames, not a 1000 frame segment of one.
No not really, but amongst the Super Metroid community he most definetely was 2-2.5 years ago. And I think he started to reverse his good reputation around the time he started to make/stopped working on his any%.

DK, I deleted your highly offensive post (as stated before in IRC, I keep a copy of the posts I delete for mostly the involved person). Bisqwit will handle Saturn if he keeps disregarding his warning. Others, do what has been recommended before, discuss tricks, improvement and whatnot.
even if he talks much shit about perfectness and stuff possibilitys and blabla
and even if he annoys me a bit too with it.. hes quite f*cking skilled in tasing games you cant deny that or?
i just dont want to get him banned because of that things happening here :) i have little (1%) hope he will submit a run in some years hopefully when iam still alive and intrested in tases

Saturn is a great TASer, but I dont think anyone said otherwise. I just hope he will finish and submit a run before he loses an intrest in TASing (if he does). I dont want him to get banned either, but thats not up to me.

I don't get what problems some poeple have when one states his opinion. So let me try to explain a few things:
No, I mentioned it at least 3 times before that I never tested the new "aim-down" falling tech people started to use in various rooms only recently, so every room that involves this tech can from now on be considered improvable by a not yet known amount of frames, since it still isn't fully tested. The last 4-frame improvement Taco showed is just another optimization to this falling tech, and I don't exclude further possibilities that there are even more improvements possible in that mainstreet fall room.
But since every other room until pre-Torizo doesn't require you to fall somewhere, there are very likely no further improvements possible (except of the mentioned 1-2 possible subpixel optimizations, which are still only theory), since everything was double-optimized to the max already. The 10-frame improvement in the morphball room alone that Zurreco mentioned is just far from being realistic, which I just wanted to make clear.
Has nothing to do with being selfish or anything. As Drewseph already said, there is just something really cool to show off for the next WIP (which should be done in the next 1-2 months, since I started to work on it again after a longer pause), so it's definitely better to avoid progress reports on it for a reason you will clearly understand when the next WIP is out.
Very wise statement, which finally somebody realizes. Although it's admittedly very hard, or in SM's case pretty much impossible over the entire run due to the random item drops after every boss fight, perfection can be reached when you eliminate all improvement-possibilities, at least on games that don't require any luck manipulation at all.
And to the few idiots unaware of anything who call me a troll, I recommend you to check this thread more thoroughly so you can eventually realize how much useful stuff I already contributed to this game alone, not to mention a couple of other games. I wish to thank AKA for giving a good example of what a troll really is, since a few people appartently don't seem to get it.
I hope people chill out a bit. There is no need to bitch about everything somebody says.
Can't we call it down-reverse falling? (DRF or whatever acronym would fit it best) Sounds much better. The least we could do is to give it a official name since the technique is getting more and more commonly used.
Oh also there is a little more to the trick, some already know this but I thought I'd put it out there so anyone who wants to search for improvements with this trick knows it.
Normaly you would have to first aim down for one frame then start pushing reverse or you would simply turn around, but if you make a shot first (the frame you press X you are not allowed to hold either R or L though you can still shoot diagonaly if you whish to by pressing R for L one frame and then press X without any of them pressed) you can start holding both down and reverse at the same time.
This is mostly useful for making corner boosts without having to loose momentum afterwards or if you have to kill/shoot an enemy that is not directly beneath you.
