Actully, I just finished an add-on to yours. In it, I get Wheel from a Fallie and Boxin in the upper-left corner of the block room, and then get Hammer from two Minis to clear out the rest of Moonlight Mansion via the grey blocks in the first room, then I got stuck :P. Here it is. I'm just making suggestions for what you should do. (along with other things, like Sir VG) I'll get to watching your video. EDIT: Yay! 100th post for KatAM thread. EDIT EDIT: Once again, MUGG. You are the Kirby King. That was a terrific run! But now I fell like I should just stop running this game, your so good. Oh, well. I'll leave all the stuff up to you. I'll be Sir VG's assistant! And I'll still be "running" it.

That looked slick. Good work in that area - no complaints here.

I'm playing through using Sit VG's route at 50% with savestates to see about how long the run will take. Take about 40 minuets off the time I get for that, though :P. So far I'm about through Candy Constallation.

Argh! Now that I have stone ability but can't use it now I'd have to get rid of it. There are some sections where I could have used it later... (Like the room after the Candy Constellation Switch). Looks like I'll skip the "masterhand -> Moonlight Mansion"-part for later...

http://kirby.classicgaming.gamespy.com/games/mirror/maps/cc.html Check room 11 and 6. Also, please cut the off-topic chatter. Every other post in this thread is written by you and I can't really benefit from posts like these... Instead you can always PM me. ;)

I know exactly which room you're talking about. There's a peg in the room after the switch. You climb up the floor and near the end, turn to the left and hit a peg. But since you need to get it in room 3 anyways to get to room 4, you might as well continue to carry it from that point until you bust the peg. I don't know offhand if you can mix anything for something better for Flan Flan, but stone works pretty good against him.

Do you know about uses for stone ability (= pegs) in other places? I'm certain stone ability can be useful somewhere. Right now, the project stagnates... Luck-manipulation in KATAM is hard! What you do in a room will determine what's the enemy behavour 3 rooms after. This is also why I can't improve the any% run right now...

I know there's a peg early on in Area 8, while going for the heart in Room 4 I believe it is (I'm not looking at a map right now). I remember there being one in Area 7 too, but I can't remember the room. Though when I do my speed run, before going around the area it's in, I go back for smash since I need multiple items (sword and hammer). Those are the only ones I can think of right now.

Are there any of those gray bricks that only stone/hammer/missile/fireball nearby that stone could be used on?

Yes, I fact, there is. Somewhere in Peppermint Palace, I think, you can roll down a hill as Stone and smash a bunch a Grey Blocks for a tresure. There's other places, I'm sure of. I'm making a short Word document with a route I'm planning out myself. It kinda goes in order of area number (with the exception of Rainbow Route) and it's going to have HP and RAM addresses from enimies. I'm having trouble with that, though -_-'. EDIT: Honestly, someone needs to help me with finding enemy HP because cheat search is NOT working what-so-ever anytime soon.

girfanatic, bosses shouldn't be too much of a problem.^^ When you use wheel a boss fight isn't longer than 15 sec if you optimize the battle. But getting rid of your mobility ability in order to get a good ability for a battle means you don't have a mobility ability afterwards. Right now, it's looking good. I'm in Olive Ocean now. The mainland part is done. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/933529051/MUGG-KAM%20v3%2C100.vbm I can mix an ability in room 9, either Missile or UFO. UFO can be used to skip a part in the next room and get the treasure. It's really slow though, but I don't know another way of getting the treasure. Suggestions? E: Maybe I could ignore the treasure and come back from the Switch Room later. E2: I rememberred how I did it in an older WIP. I grabbed UFO, skipped part of the next room and in the Switch Room I got Missile.^^ Then there are three paths.
  • Upper route (Rooms 26, 27, 28 included) - Missile preferred. Will bring ice ability in its end.
  • Middle route - Wheel preferred. I'll probably L-warp out of this route at room 23.
  • Lower route - Since there are rooms which only consist of water, no ability is of any use here actually. Stone or Hammer will be preferred since there's a peg, but I could also mix it. This route will end at the shark boss. Will bring hammer/smash/stone/parasol ability in its end.

The only complaint I have is at one point you walk on the ocean floor in Olive Ocean. I think you could svae 15-30 frames by pressing up onee frame. Also, could someone PLEASE help me with the figuring out of the enemy HP thing. Nothing works.

If I had pressed A, I'd have jumped too high which would have resulted in a time loss. I may check your problem with the HP addresses. I only need to know which bosses you want to know the HP from. Btw, Floogal posted a guide of the US-version on page 3 or 4. However, there are differences between the versions. Either Kirby makes more damage in the JPN-version or bosses are weaker, but maybe it's of any use for you ... Currently, I'm improving my WIP since I noticed a flaw in it.

I don't know if this will save much time in the long run, but here goes. With the grey (not brown) Golems, whenever they use their Uppercut moves, they take the move from Dessie (Boxin). However, they use a different value, butall they do to the move is change the sprite. So, if you start to swallow directly after that move, it won't revert back to Golem and allow you to obtain Fighter!

I sadly figured that one out on a speed run attempt today. I normally grab the one between Mirror World Kirby and Batafire in Area 4 for stone, but then suddenly I was going after Batafire using Stone techniques...but I had fighter! Totally screwed me over. ...bastard.

The light brown ones which sometimes make a roll attack, can give wheel. This is interesting...

Then maybe if King Golem spits one out right before you beat him, you'll be able to get Wheel right away after defeating him by discarding Wheel.... This may not be possible, but anything is possible in a TAS!

You can get wheel right after the battle, you'd have to manipulate the enemy to do the roll attack and you'd have to wait for it. No, I don't care for these multi-ability Golems anymore since they're so rare and in inappropriate places. Much more I care about abusing the Magic ability used by a buddy Kirby. Manipulating it to be used shouldn't be a great deal. But getting the other Kirbys equipped with it...

Time for a new WIP: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1373094116/MUGG-KAM%20v3%2C100.vbm (I missed a treasure chest in room 10 of the ice world, so I'll need to redo the last part of the run) I found some new tricks: Faster way of climbing ladders Pressing 6 frames upwards than 1 frame sidewards is the fastest way to climb ladders. (Somehow, however, pressing upwards 3 frames instead of 6 apparently has the same effect) Keeping momentum when bumping against walls Press the opposite direction right before bumping against a wall. Directly landing on the floor without any bumping is better, though. So it's only good to use it when there's no other way. No momentum during starting-animation of wheel Sorry, I'll have to do some research on this, but you can see an example of it in the WIP at frame ~16500.

I just realized, isn't there a treasure chest up above the door surrounded by blocks before the room before King Golem? So far, very nice, very clean, and I like it! Nice manuvering with missile in the currents.

At frame ~14000, you exit a door underwater. Then you walk on the ground until you start falling down - wouldn't it be better to take a stroke or two to gain some extra speed? What was the reason for going down that shaft at the beginning of Carrot Castle? Close to the end of the WIP you enter a room it seems only to grab a 1-UP. Why? Also nice skips with the UFO. :) WIP looks great, good job!

I posted the walking-on-ocean-floor thing on the alst page, and if he pressed up one frame, it would be slower than walking over the edge, actully.

No, because the horizontal speed gained isn't worth it in regard to the extra vertical distance you would have to dive. What was the reason for going down that shaft at the beginning of Carrot Castle? 100% indicates you have to enter each room. Close to the end of the WIP you enter a room it seems only to grab a 1-UP. Why? 100% indicates you have to open all the chests. *gg* Thanks for the comments.

Nevermind, I was thinking of Room 11, but that leads up into Candy Constellation anyway. Now I'm tempted into improving the current any% run...
