I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I looked around in the forums but didn't find anything related to this issue, so I made a new topic. The problem I'm experiencing is that the audio in published .avi-files often desynch with the audio. This happens to me with quite a lot of the published .avi-files, so it's not something related to a specific encoder. The audio runs faster than the video so I often hear things that will happen before the video shows it. What I'm wondering is if anyone knows what is causing this problem (perhaps it's a problem on my computer) and if anyone else is experiencing this? The way I solve the problem is by rewinding the videofile a second or so, making the video and audio sync again for some time. Is there a better way to solve this? If it helps, I'm using BSPlayer to play the .avi-files, and I don't have this problem with other .avi-files. And please don't take this the wrong way, I certainly appreciate the encoded runs and the audio and video quality are great. Don't take this as a complaint, I just thought I'd ask about this problem of mine since I've experienced it for some time now. It's not a big problem, it's just a little annoying for me. :)

It would be appreciated if you can point out examples of AVI files having this problem.

Well, I had this problem with the newly published SMB run, for example, the current Super Mario World run and The Mask run too, on top of my head. I could probably dig out some more runs that this happens to me on if that helps.

The new SMB run is perfectly fine. The issue has to be computer related - probably too much stuff running at once for your computer to handle video decoding.
Taking over the world, one game at a time. Currently TASing: Nothing

Yeah, that could be it actually. My computer is getting a little too old for its own good, actually. :)

You're making it sound as if computer's performance deteriorates over time. :P I bet it's a software problem — paradoxically, it can deteriorate, at least on Windows. Or, you have installed something related to software used for decoding, and that lead to some kind of a conflict.

Audio desynchronization can occur when the emulator's sound sampling rate and the output audio rate (or the rate the encoded chooses; I can't remember) differ. This was prevalent on my SNES encodes because the DEFAULT sampling rate for the emulator was 32KHz and the rate on the audio track in the movies were 44.1KHz or 48KHz.

I remember the 4 CPUs Monopoly having audio/video drift when I watched it, even in MPlayer.

I've experienced desyncs with some SNES9x-generated AVIs: The frame rate was exactly 60 fps but the audio data was slightly less than required. The fix would be increasing the fps rate to match the audio length (easy in VirtualDubMod, but not desirable), or stretching the extracted audio to match the video length & then re-inserting it.
