And evilchen, your music video of hero's any% run is probably the best I have seen so far. Really nice editing and graphical effects, and a pretty good and suitable soundtrack for most parts of the run. You did a great job with it. :-)
I totally agree, there are more entertaining runs (like JXQ's 100%v2) but that is IMO the most entertaining video of a run. Though actually I didn't like it at all first, I hated all the music before draygon and that really made the run less entertaining for me but then for some reason I suddenly began to love the 2nd and 3rd song too. More videos like this from you would be greatly appreciated :) Comments on Krioles RBO comming soon, just going to check some things in it first.

Why you don't show it then? After all you mentioned to have "regained" some frames somewhere, didn't you? :-)
I'm sorry, I'm unsure if I may spoil. But in Ceres, there is a possible 6 frame improvement, which I and Taco will start working on soon.

But no, to be honest, the only theoretical possibility to ever save a frame in my entire Zebes-demo until pre-Torizo, would be in the mainstreet room when running over that mountain on the way to OTES, by optimizing subpixels to not being forced to skip any arm pumps during all the slopes there. I tried alot of variations though, and came to the conclusion that it's impossible to be faster there. You mentioned to skip 0 pumps for just 1 dash frame, but I don't see that in your latest RBO WIP, which means that it's same fast at best or slower than my strategy.
...what? Frame 16073.

Speaking of the RBO WIP, very solid done so far, Kriole.
Thank you. It will have improved ammo-management.

I've seen evilchen's video too, and I didn't like it too much sorry. It was good nicely edited and all but wasn't just my taste. In my opinion honestly the best videos of TASes I've ever seen are still Saturn's previews 1-3, especially 3. Hero's video with Bomfunk MC's on the background was really great also, but RBO Preview #3 is the most epic TAS music video of all time in my opinion.

Hero and I tried that some time ago, basically it would've been a timesaver if it was possible to both get over the entire platform, and be able to land upon the head block after clearing it. Even if one of them was possible, the other wasn't.

@ Krioles WIP: Really good this time, very solid. I think I saw a few small possible improvements here and there but overall the quality is way way higher than your previous work. One noteable trick you missied was that in the PB room, it is possible to open the door before taking the first damageboost. Both hero and I did this in our any% runs and it saves some 6-7 frames IIRC. Also creative as you are I can not believe that you are still slower than my old any% in the purple diagonal room, though it is only 1 frame now I excpected you to find a faster strategy than mine.

Huh? Aren't we using the same strategy?

yo if you unspin its failed because you can not land on the surface and than its slower ;/ btw moozooh i know you said its not possible but i never was as far as in the smv i posted... that gave me a little hope and i thought some people might have luck ;)?

We collect the 2nd and 3rd missile from the same creatures but I get my first one earlier and I shoot the second creature earlier. So either my strategy is faster or it was just more optimized. Don't really matter that much though since IIRC moozooh found another strategy there which was something like 7 frames faster.

I thought he's still working on that one in the diagonal room?

The NBMB I'm pretty sure is past that point, though I don't know if he actually got it working.

It had the potential to be 7 frames faster (thankfully, it looks noticeably better in any case, which was the main motivator for me to implement it). So far hero, evilchen and I have been bruteforcing it, and hero came closest with 298 ingame frames spent in the room, compared to Cpadolf's 299. On the other hand, there is some further subpixel optimisation to take care of in his version, as well as using faster speed (2.0, hero did it on 1.61xxx). All in all it may amount to another 1-3 frames being saved in theory. Optimization by itself isn't as tedious as just making it work, because an offset as big as ~2048 subpixels can throw you off, not completely dissimilar to the Torizo skip, except in this case you fight for a couple frames + better looks, instead of 18+ seconds a timesaver. So basically I'm still trying to improve it further. Once we're past it, the progress will skyrocket.

Yeah. Green Brinstar is, compared to Crateria, very easy to optimize =)

That sounds so destructive :) To bad Super Metroid is too complex to be effecticely bruteforced by a bot, even in small areas.

hehe well we have to make lists and try every f*cking speed and every input at certain points... so it really is like bruteforcing xD just slower *roll eyes*

True that. And I also have some ideas I would like to test there. Who knows, maybe something interesting will arise.

Yes. Maybe something as interesting as this. Saves 15 frames according to Taco.

No, not something as interesting as that, because I won't be getting Spazer in any run I'm working on. :D

Now why the hell haven't anyone done that before... I mean it's a damageboost, that isn't even a little tricky.

moozooh, I was going full speed (2.0) in the purple diagonal room with my new strategy, not (1.6). I never let go of the run button, if that is what you were implying. Sorry if I misunderstood. For those who don't know, I found a strategy to clear the room without letting go of the run button or the left directional. Unfortunately I must skip a bunch of armpumps or I would run past the item drops. Despite being only 1 frame faster than Cpadolf's strategy, it should be more pleasing to the eye.
They're off to find the hero of the day...

Well, it might be because the last person to take that route through the room was JXQ with his 100%v2, after that no-one tried to do anything different there. Cause if you, say, were going for skipping both Spazer and the refill as I'm going to do in my low%, you'd do it somehow like this.

Ah, sorry, I forgot that you did it at full speed. Leaves even less room for improvement then, heh.
