Switching emulators here, this will be the next game I can TAS off of. I did play this game several times recently, and as I fought through it, like Tournament mode, I already planned out the best strategy of getting through this game quicker. Listen, people... it takes longer to wear down your opponent for a 3-count than it would take to throw him out of the ring and try to win by count-out. So winning all matches by count-out will be my strategy for this game. Now I can also play matches long enough to achieve full strength and execute finishing moves like HHH's Pedigree, the Stone Cold Stunner, or even the Tombstone Piledriver, but I won't waste frames by doing that. So to put this in the shortest detail possible: strategy and luck manipulation are the only ways of getting through this game quickly. And it will all end with Vince McMahon saying "...you son of a b*..." Finally, a nice credit-roll. =) COMING SOON to TASVIDEOS.ORG!!!

I'd rather see the N64 version... but since that probably doesn't even emulate properly in Mupen, I'm looking forward to this. :D

Indeed. Not only is it faster, but getting the quick count-out will also leave Austin more energy for beating up his wife after the match.

I may not use Austin for this run, unless he's the very first character that shows up in the selection screen. But no matter what, I don't feel any need to waste frames by switching characters.

1st WIP released -- Beated in 11:04.73 There was one little problem during the playthrough though... there is no way to manipulate luck into what type of match that Mr. McMahon will put you in. Thus, Steve Austin (default pick from wrestler selection screen) had to face Shawn Michaels in a steel cage. This means I had to wear down the opponent using a few grappling moves and 3 Stone Cold Stunners to finish the job, climb the cage, and get back on the fast track. I'll release a 2nd WIP soon. I am sure there is some way to try to beat this a little bit quicker but I can't make any promises. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1053657172/WWF%20WrestleMania%202000.vbm

Do you mean that it's randomly determined but set very early, or that it isn't random at all? If the former, we can probably find a memory address that predicts which type of match is going to be assigned.

And that is one thing I'm never good at. But if you got the nerve to find memory addresses for matches assigned, go for it! =)

On the other hand, it will be opponents randomly assigned to you for each time you play through the game. Anyone can come out, but for that movie I upped, here's the card I had: N=Normal // SC = Steel Cage // H = Handicap 2-on-1 // IC = Intercontinental title // WH = World Heavyweight title [N] Road Dogg [N] Jeff Jarrett [N] Big Boss Man [N] Billy Gunn [N] Val Venis [SC] Shawn Michaels [N] Ken Shamrock [IC] X-Pac [N] Val Venis (2) [N] Kane [H] Road Dogg / Ken Shamrock [N] The Rock [N] The Big Show [N] Mankind [N] HHH [WH] Undertaker [N] Mankind (2) [N] X-Pac (2) [N] Undertaker (2) [N] Mr. McMahon I guess we all can say, if you can do a speed run through any wrestler that gets in your way, or even do a speed run through "The Game" (Triple H), you can speed run through Wrestlemania! ~winks~

Yegads. I didn't watch the WIP till just now... I have to be honest, a run of this game probably won't be publishable. It's way too long and repetitive.

i see london, i see france, i see dromiceius' pixelated ass! X'D anyways, on topic, how about trying to ship out some crazy massive, insane combos? or is this game just the typical "hit button a to punch, hit button b to kick. hit button a twice and button b to perform one of two combos possible" fighter?

Yeah, there were a small amount of wrestling and grappling moves to input. There wasn't as many. There were also finishing moves after grappling an opponent, but still, there wasn't many. DDT, Piledriver, vertical suplex, and body throw. Yeah. It may be impossible to throw a combo.

As of today, I officially abandon the run (WIP project) through this game. But I'll keep on training and see if there are any better wrestling games to TAS through. Thanx for advice, guys! =)

Dude- check out the WWF: Attitude video I posted in the "just be funny" thread. My suggestion is moot unless you can reasonably emulate N64, but I think there's potential for a 2-player Royal Rumble, or an unthinkably difficult exhibition match as concept demo. There are actually a handful of WWF/WCW games for N64 which, as you may be aware, had its heyday at the same time as pro wrestling. If you can't do N64, I'd recommend WWF: Raw is war for the SNES.
