I think it's time to lay off Saturn. Without him saying that he had gotten 49"15/3130, we would never even have bothered to find this improvement. I even discussed this with Taco, and he said that everytime he ran through his 49"13 escape he felt no single improvement whatsoever, so Saturn claiming that his one was perfect sounded indeed very plausible. At that time I said I felt one frame improvement in the run to Ridley, at which time Taco said "That's right", and then he spoiled his 800 frame run ;].
So Saturn gave us motivation to improve his part so to speak. Getting your hands on something awesome, I tell you, you wouldn't want to share it with anyone. I think Saturn made the right decision. But I would have acted different ;]. Giddiness takes upper hand and I would have provided smv's basking in my own glow of awesomeness.
Furthermore, Taco said he did Ceres a few times per day, which is understandable, since it becomes rather easy. Hell, after the second time I got 49"13 I could reproduce it under 400 rerecords.
It's not that sigs itself aren't allowed, it's distracting images and animations are. Such as your current avatar, unfortunately. :)
By the way, I still have yet to praise Taco and Kriole for Ceres improvements. Taco is insane, working on it all with such amazing perseverance, this is far more than what one would expect from any TASer. I bet the experience he gained from it all was immeasurable and fully enough to surpass the results of all the other players involved in TASing SM.
Also, nice to know that some of the ideas I've thrown out earlier in the thread have been used. I guess I'm not completely hopeless. :)
I'm eagerly awaiting Taco's progress on Zebes. I wonder just how many frames will he be able to save compared to my already severely outdated low% test run WIPs.
On that note, I'm getting sick of wasting so much time on nothing. :| I promise to return to TASing this week.

I'm glad. The final frame has been found and Saturn's frame count has been improved. Your "legendary" ceres frame count is beaten. Really I feel bad for talking to Taco over MSN so much and trying to come up with stuff but I never was of any help, he's my new hero now. Of course the same goes for Kriole too. It'd be nice if everyone could move on to Zebes now. :)

Of course, this inevitably leads to very much bullshit, since his definition of perfection is a little off; anything he creates is perfect. Well, everything is perfect until proven otherwise. But I admit, he overuses the word perfect.

Edit: moozooh, can you provide your framecount for ceres which you got in your test-wip so one can compare fairly? It's not fun when I am 34 frames ahead and I think I am awesome, just to remember that your ceres is somewhat 20~ frames slower.

This whole thing is so disappointing really. Lemme tell you something, when I first saw those Saturn's previews they hit me like a fireball, I was in shock. I had barely started speedrunning super metroid and it was about 1-1,5 years ago I think? Back then and not long time ago Saturn was my number one TASer, a hero in my eyes. There wasn't another TASer I looked up to as much as him, really. I loved all the work he did and spend like hour a day watching those videos at youtube.
Now after all this I just feel stupid. My idol of Tool-Assisted Speedrunning turned out to be like this. And I so happen to hate arrogant people... Sorry Saturn but I've just lost a lot of respect towards you.

Same here. Saturn was my tool of inspiration ;]. His attitude is rather dissapointing. People who are better at something should be humble and encouraging towards those who are less talented. Not condescending and disencouraging.

Saturn's RBO WIP's are what got me into TAS Super Metroid. I usted t ogive him respect, but when I found out he didn't share his improvements, he lost a great deal of respect. I say the credit goes to Kriole and Taco olny, even if Saturn was the one that made them look for improvements. They shared it as soon as they found it, not holding it for forever and telling everyone that you did this is one or two days. As soon as Taco beats your "legendary" 49'15 (which I still doubt you made), you say "oh, I got that a few days ago". Like other people have said, you can't call a movie perfect if you discount the imperfections. You really disappoint me Saturn.

That's why I don't judge people as TASers by how they act but what they create. And as a TASer of Super Metroid Saturn is really fantastic, amongst the best. (judging from his RBO and Redesgin run)

I'd say that he is actually, I for example have received nothing but praise from him. It seems like he acts very positive to everyone making TASes of SM (or I guess other games to he has touched) except the ones he sees as threats to the throne as the very best SM TASer. moozooh has always had to take a lot of crap from him and if you check his response to every one of tacos ceres improvements before this one he praises him as a genius while he now disregard it as "well I did (almost) that but faster".
Also the second I saw taco's 49:15 run I saw this whole thing unravel just like this, Saturn had already made it unavoidable and then he went and made it even worse...
So adolf, what you're saying is Saturn is humble and encouraging EXCEPT when he's condescending and disencouraging?

We don't care if what you TAS is perfect or not. If it's an improvement, it's great! What we do care about is if you keep on parading your ego, saying that your work is absolutely 100% un-improvable.
