This one requires Snes9x Record-Reset. (side note, why to all these emulator homepages have to keep breaking constantly?! I have to mirror these files now...)

You can't play smv files with ZSnes, you need the emulator SNES9X v1.43 with the record reset function, which you can download here. To play the smv file, just open up the emulator, load the ROM, go to "File" -> "Movie Play" and select the smv file. Good luck! EDIT: Wow, people responded really fast, while I was writing this. Oh, nevermind then.

Synced fine for me. I put up an online player for those who want to watch it... <Edit: Link removed as the WIP got updated, a newer link is found in a later posting> It's encoded into FLV with low rate enough to be expected to be affordable with my bandwidth budget, so don't expect high quality... Tested on Firefox browser.

Doesn't seems to be buffering, and I let it go for a two minutes.

Unfortunately I encounter the same exact issue while using IE7 and Firefox :( Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Works for me but doesn't support seeking to non-downloaded regions... EDIT: Oops, I broke it while adding error checking. Try again now.

Thanks Bisqwit, it works perfect now! [And loads so fast, despite insane bandwidth usage on my end! Deign: Why the bloody heck do you pause so much? [Pause Button] Is this to manipulate attacks? Or is there another reason? Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

It's purpose is 3-fold. 1. Luck manipulation to force the fight to go exactly as I want it. 2. Stops the in-game clock 3. During certain fights I can force my charactors to attack just a little bit quicker and thereby killing off the boss before it's next attack. The two fights that come to mind where number 3 saved a load of frames was the edward fight and Milon. You'll notice that if you tried playing the movie before the last twin is selected that Milon gets another attack before they would cast Flare. So the pausing has saved an innumerable amount of frames. For the AVI, I'm looking into trying to find out what causes the volume to change and trying to make a cheat code that will hopefully not affect the gameplay at all and will make the AVI a little better at least.

AHH! Muchos Gracias! I was wondering, since it's a touch annoying, but I now understand entirely why and can live with it. Edit: Wow! Post #200! Too cool! Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Quite remarkable manipulation, here. Watching the fights go by while the game is paused is unusually interesting. It's as if the fights are winning themselves. If that makes sense. I wasn't sure about save-resetting when I read about it, but it works out quite well, and only adds to how cleverly manipulated the game looks. I'm certainly looking forward to completion, as far off as that may be. Keep up the good work, sir.

I find the pause being in the middle of the screen more annoying than anything. Great work though, just hope someone makes a run without the pause box being there the whole time =/.

The only irritating thing about the pause thing to me is that it quiets the boss music! Grr! I'm very much so enjoying this run so far, lovin it

Agreed, which is why I intend to have the AVI encoded with a emulator-level hack feature that amplifies the sound volume when a pause is in effect to match the normal levels. EDIT: I also updated the Flash video now so that it can be seeked without a complete download. <Edit: Link removed as the WIP got updated, a newer link is found in a later posting>

Just watched the whole thing, very very enjoyable. I don't know why people are complaining about the restarts and the pause so much, they detract very little from the enjoyment imho. I never actually finished this one (although I'm half tempted to dig the GBA cartridge out now), so I'll be watching this thread carefully. I'm curious as to later game strategies. Twin magic seems very useful and powerful, as well as Teliah's Recall. I'm just hoping there isn't anything as game breaking as L5 Death or Roulette in this game... as much as I enjoyed those runs and as good as they are, I prefer to see bosses die without the use of instakills ^_^

Tellah doesn't get Recall in this version, and I doubt any of the characters will level high enough for Stone.

There are no instant boss kills in this game. The route is about 95% tested, just a couple things I need to test near the end of the game.

Well, you can almost call the Weak cast on Dark Dragon (and is there one more?) an instant kill. It will probably only take you one shot of Lit-3 for Kainazzo as well, I'd imagine. Will you be taking a similar route to the SDA version - IE, skipping Sealed Cave, and almost exclusively levelling in the Giant? Will you get the Crystal Sword?

Yes weak will be taking out the dark elf and Lit-3 and an ice-2 will take out Kainazzo in 2 hits.

Sealed cave is an obvious yes answer, the rest of this information is classified =) you'll have to wait for when the run is finally submitted.

I'm very shocked you can't manipulate a Lit-3 oneshot kill for Kainazzo... it's not like Tellah levels at all even in a normal run enough for that to make a big difference. Would his equipment give a Magic Attack multiplier big enough to do it?

This is an immensely interesting feature. Can this be done with any and all published videos?

Actually sorry, Lit-2 and Ice-3 for the kill on Kainazzo, Tellah just can't quite get the 4k dmg on him. It's not about manipulation, it's about capability. The damage range for Tellah is 2320 and 3600. Therefore he is not strong enough. Thanks to Nitrodon for the damage ranges.

Sorry, thought I remembered Kainazzo being 3000 hp. Just wonder if any robes you can pick up will influence the range enough (say, in Baron town or Mysidia)

No, but even if there was, it would be slower than just letting Palom get in a Lit-2. Only takes 5-6 seconds = 300-360 frames, entering the menu and equiping so on and so forth = longer
