Could anyone give me a savestate for MQ with Spirit and Shadow medallions, preferrably with light arrows and the bridge already in place, but without any of Ganon's Castle completed?
I have a state you can use. How do I upload it though?

filefront, yousendit, rapidshare, mediafire. any uploading site really. Don't use microstorage, that's for movie files only.

http://files.filefront.com/MQ+Ganons+Towerst/;9158388;/fileinfo.html I named the state wrong, it's supposed to be Ganon's Castle. Doesn't make a difference though.

Comicalflop, you should add google to the list of uploading site since you can create a webpage, and upload the files there. You have 100megs which is enough for most small files :P

I just read a few comments about death-warping and save-warping.Well , you guessed it .. i dont get it.I heard that the SDA run was faster 'cauz of the save-warping , so why you dont ( or do you ? ) use it in TAS ? (:

because there is a mupen version that can record resets, but it's not accepted at the site yet. The current mupen cannot reset the ROM and keep recording, so everything must be done in one go, i.e. use death warps.

The one thing I'd be interested to know is if antids can be used to record on normally without reseting and play back normally on regular Mupen. This might make it easier for future runnners.

A few questions : Would be there a big time advantage with save-warp at TAS ? wich time would be pos ? Cant you record a .m64 file to the point where you wanne use save-warp ? and start a new .m64 ? I thought TAS aims for fastest way. That was a question of mine tho .. can you "cut" .m64 files ? or you have to do all at once ? If it is this way mupen will resume recording when you have a save and restart mupen ? Are you working on the run recently ? Honestly i cant wait for it ! :) Go for it you can do it ^-^ btw wich plugins you use for zelda ? i wasnt able to find them at the forum. PS: You make me HAPPY .. REALY .. thank you for your RUNS .. i realy worship you for this .. go on ! :)

It must be in a single file, without any savestate. So you can't save, and then reset. There's no way for the moment when you can record a reset. And when you will be playing back the movie, the emulator won't reset the movie, and it won't work.

I thought I heard about a resetting version, but maybe it's still not ready yet.

It's been ready for a while. I've made some tests with various games, and the .m64's synch with a reset of the ROM in mupen and still preserve the RAM, all while recording. The only problem is that it hasn't been accepted at the site yet.

Because it doesn't make valid AVI's and theres no released source.

I've made AVI's,okaygo has made AVI's and youtube vids... just badger okaygo and you'll get the source. I don't see what the biggie is. It's unaccepted because it could be used "in situations that doesn't apply to goals. Resetting to avoid backtracking is good, resetting to manipulate luck to a heavy extent is good, but resetting to avoid lengthy cutscenes that some whiny viewers will invariably whine about, and of which the removal of those cutscenes can only do good since viewers are ADD and whiny and it reduces the movie length, but despite that these things are bad." from what I know, the frame count is actually stopped while the emulator reloads itself. I don't know if you were doing something wrong when testing, but I have made .m64's that synch, and I have encoded an AVI (I might make another one, I might've deleted the one I had) that does not record the part where the ROM closes and reloads.

The version I have just makes avi's with nothing but audio and blank. Is there multiple reset versions floating around? As for asking for the source, when I last asked he left irc, never to return.

Might be because you use Vista (and for DeHackEd because he uses Linux). If I don't forget I'll try making an AVI tonight, see what happens. Also, I have okaygo on Skype and AIM, and he's online occassionally (like right now for instance). It's not like he's unreachable.

I have to say this reminds me of hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.
Vogon Captain: People of Earth your attention please. This is Prostectic Vogon Jeltz of the Galactic Hyperspace Planet Council. As you no doubt will be aware, the plans for the development of the outlying regions of the western spiral arm of the galaxy require the building of a hyperspace express route through your star system and, regrettably, your planet is one of those scheduled for demolition. The process will take slightly less than two of your Earth minutes thank you very much. *Crowd roars* Vogon captain: There’s no point in acting all surprised about it. All the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display at your local planning department in Alpha Centauri for 50 of your Earth years so you’ve had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaints and its far too late to start making a fuss about it now. *Crowd roars louder.* Vogon captain: What do you mean you’ve never been to Alpha Centauri? Oh for heaven sake mankind its only 4 light years away you know.! I’m sorry but if you can’t be bothered to take an interest in local affairs that’s your own regard. Energize the demolition beams! God I don’t know…apathetic bloody planet, I’ve no sympathy at all…

I think I just won a bet: http://download240.mediafire.com/dttditm0itcg/5z40byxnmok/record+reset+test.avi Now, if say the record resetting mupen will be accepted if a source code is also available, now that the above vid is proof that not only is SRAM preserved the way it's supposed to but that it encodes just fine without any interruptions, should I go bug okaygo for the source?

I would say the chances of it being accepted would be significantly increased if theres no new introduced bugs and the source is provided (if theres no source, it can't be improved upon in the future, and as such is a dead end) then I think its quite likely to be accepted, or at the very least speed up the process of judging.

Well, then we should probably get that source code, as recorded resets simplify things immensely (at least in MQ). Plus, with no need to deathwarp, we can get rid of the low health alarm in most situations.

As cool as that is, I can't imagine this would save time if you still have to go into the deku tree to get the slingshot.

Well you don't need the sling shot if you can find a way to hit the trigger for the bombchus. Maybe you can super flip up there or something.

Considering that the rest of the Deku Tree + cutscenes takes about 5 minutes (and that's the minimum), I'd say that this trick would save at least 3,5 minutes. If we were ever to find a way to get the Ocarina + SoT + Spiritual Stones using BA, of course.

Do you even need the green spiritual stone to become adult?
