Was previously about a mascot for the site, but everyone hated the idea. Seems to have spiraled into a topic about meth. This topic does not exist anymore [EDIT by Bisqwit: Restored topic title. Do NOT go rewriting history on these boards. What has a topic called "meth?" to have anything to do with the Sites forum? Leave that kind of decisions to the moderators ― Do not play a moderator yourself. Locking this thread. Since you also edited your own posts to delete content from them, I deleted the posts alltogether. The next time you do that, I will halve your post count.]

My other idea is that some websites have mascots. This is sort of a silly idea, but think the site should have some sort of mascot.

There's one thing I always thought that looked out of place. The TAS banner in the forums just doesn't seem to show the site's purpose. I always though a banner where the characters are racing would be best. Kind of like this.
I think the current banner does show the site's purpose... A well-known video game character moves so fast that the camera cannot follow so he appears blurred. I'm mildly opposed to the racing/contest theme in general.

And I've had it up to here with the "cram in a bazillion different characters" theme! I think the blurred Mario looks weird, though, because he's blurred just right where he is, rather than across where he's moving.
put yourself in my rocketpack if that poochie is one outrageous dude

While your artistic work on "Pashoo" could be considered somewhat admirable, I think people are failing to see why shooting water and looking like a blue trophy thats high is relevant to TASvideos, or why we need a unique mascot at all for that matter.

Umm.... I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. I do have a deviantart with these pictures on them. Should I have put links to there instead? if so, I'm sorry.
Yes, because...

Yes well, I myself said that he doesn't really have anything to do with TASing.
As you said, it has nothing to do with TASing. The contest might be interesting, if for only the fun of it, but posting things like your picture of that Pashoo, with the intent of having him as a mascot, is [for lack of a better, less mean sounding word] pointless. your first idea was more on the mark, while your second would be seen as confusing to a newbie at this wonderful site... misleading as well.

look, can we please just get rid of/lock this topic? I get it. It was a stupid idea and my guy is stupid. We can leave it at that? It's very frustrating to have the topic already settled as being pointless and stupid, but still have people criticizing the idea. Also, it was never my "intent" for him to be THE mascot. It was an example! I thought that people might want to be creative and make something original to represent the site rather than just have Mario. So please forgive me for bringing up the stupid idea in the first place. I am a stupid person. Though I'm sure people will still feel it nessesary to pick on the idea. From now on, this topic doesn't exist anymore

I for one am a big fan of Magritte of course Magritte was referring to the nature of humans to confuse an image with the thing itself, and his saying "this is not a pipe" was entirely accurate insofar as you cannot literally smoke the painting. and of course a lot of you justifiably hate drugs, but mario smoking crystal meth from a pipe would actually be an appropriate mascot. ok not really at all, but i had to tie it in somehow.
I make a comic with no image files and you should read it. While there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free. -Eugene Debs

I actually just learned about this in september for my art appreciation class... kind of blows your mind when you think deeply about it

hmm, wouldn't an amphetamine [speed] be better, since it is purely speed related and has a lack of psychodelics (sp)?

huh. i could have sworn meth was a psychadellic (sp, again) as well as speed. EDIT: as in the added meth- gave it other effects aside from the -amphetamine effects

Meth- is a prefix which means "1" if I remember my chemistry correctly (see methane which has one carbon atom) It does change your perception of reality, but in a way vastly different from true psychedelics like LSD etc To the kids at home: seriously, if you're going to do any drug, make it NOT meth. It is probably the most addictive, most dangerous drug. Most hippies suggest pot. The us government suggests alcohol, tobacco, sudafed, nyquil and tylenol pm which are freely available to adults. TASvideos suggests rerecording emulators :) On topic: this post does not exist anymore (sp)

heh, all of which are addictive and some (perhaps all?) can kill you in high doses... unlike the completely illegal and evil marijuana plant... i love the us government (just watched a history channel show on how the us government spent money researching lsd. they researched by giving the drug to thousands of random civilians, which helped cause the hippie movement) [/random fact of the day]
