edit: huh, didn't see this thread, all the ones I found were locked.
Why create a new topic when there already is a topic about this exact same subject?
For those who cared about this, it will be old news (it's known for over a day)... and for those who don't want to know, it's a major spoiler...
I also want to point out this thread: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5930
Nice one. :)
Locking those probably wasn't a right decision; then again, neither of them covers SSBB as a whole and we don't have a dedicated SSBB topic, either.

I've compiled a list of characters I would like to see in Brawl (assist character in the second list, challengers in the first list). Some are in both.
1.Jak
2.Asterix
3.Megaman
4.Tom Nook
5.Masterchief
Assist trophies
1.Knuckles
2.Digimon?
3.Myrrh (FE:SS)
4.Masterchief
5.Harry Potter
6.Daxter
What do you think?

After a long absence, here we go again?
Melee had many progamer techniques like L-cancel, pivot, SDI, Wavedash etc.
At the moment, it looks like nothing of this will be in Brawl.
If you're interested in these progaming techniques (if you don't know what they are at all) I recommend watching this video series:
Advanced how to play by WAK
While it might be a pity if some non-intended techniques wouldn't be present anymore, I don't think you can say it would make the game unsuited for progamers. I think it's just about being good at a game with whatever possibilities the game provides.
It took me two days to realize that 'progamers' was meant to be parsed as 'pro-gamers' and not 'programmers'. I'm not sure why my mind kept tossing in the extra R.
Also, just because some bugs are being fixed doesn't mean that there won't be new ones to exploit. The tournament crowd had to adapt to each new version of Street Fighter as they came about, but it never put a nail in the coffin of the franchise, did it? Not that I really like Smash Bros as a tourney game, since someone's always going to whine about stages/characters/rules instead of just playing the damned thing. HYRULE CASTLE! POKEBALLS! JIGGLYPUFF ONLY! :p
I kept reading it as programmers also.
Quite honestly i am glad to see the bugs fixed, and nintendo making a few silly comments on the smashbros blog.

Is it only coincidence that in the end of that trailer Sonic looks like a Super Saiyan?
I'm just throwing it out there but, its probably his Final Smash.
Got several new character ideas: Missingno (Well, what do you think will happen?), Smeargle (Sort of like Kirby) and The Arbiter ( Similar to Snake).

I'd like to see
Prince of Persia
Kratos
Ahnuld from Total Recall (awesomeness)
That ninja guy from Demon Sword
Vectorman
Bubsy
Tails (as a punching bag)

I think it would happen at about the same time that they give Link an infinite sword glitch move. Unlike pikachu/jigglypuff/mewtwo, missingno has never appeared on the anime/in the movie and has exactly two classic moves to draw on. Then again, that didn't stop them from using Captain Falcon.
Trying 127.0.0.1...

The whole characters turned glitchy thing is not a good final smash... this would never pass in a smash bros. game, they care too much about making it look nice and perty.
Fox, Falco and Captain Falcon all have their own games (or are intended to be in an NPC [cough falco cough], while missing no. is just a shitty glitched up version of (IIRC) mewtwo... ugly to look at and extremely useless. the closest you will get to a missing no. are probably going to be those black "unknown" things (if that is their name... memory = shit)

Forget party hats, Christmas tree hats all the way man.
While on the subject of Pokemon...how about Unown (??) as an assist trophy? You could have a black Pokeball, throw it and an Unown pops out and depending on its letter form has different attacks.
